BREAKING NEWS: Dan Boots Longenette of Auto Smarts Radio just posted that Colo’s Classic Car Show at the Columbus Zoo has been canceled for this year. No reason was given for the cancellation. If I find out any additional information, I will post it here.

It's one of those rare weeks where you can do a car show or cruise-in every day of the week if you wanted to.

The featured event this week is the London Cobra Show. The show will move between Dublin (host hotel) and London Ohio. I'm told a bunch of Cobras will be making a stop at the Der Dutchman Cruise-In on Thursday. If you're into Cobras, this will be three days of jam-packed fun.

NEWS AND NOTES:

With no rain in the forecast, the Der Dutchman Restaurant in Plain City, Ohio had another big evening of participation. The Cruise-in registered 378 cars on Thursday.

The rain Friday evening and Saturday morning put a damper on a number of events to start the weekend. The good news is the rain cleared out by Saturday afternoon and stayed away on Sunday.

The Mid Ohio Cruisers registered 56 cars Saturday evening at their monthly Cruisin' with the King Show in Marysville, Ohio. The club presented 15 "Club Favorite" awards and a Boyd's Tire & Service Choice Award. The Boyd's Choice Award went to Dustin and Emilee Evans with a 1977 Pontiac Can-Am.

After a three year hiatus, the car show at the bar and grill in Dublin, Ohio formerly known as On the Rocks returned on Sunday. The bar has undergone multiple owners since the last show was held there in the fall of 2018. The bar is now called the Last Call Music Bar and Grill. Mike Mitchell who organized and ran all the On the Rocks shows is still the main force behind the new show.

Despite Sunday being Fathers Day and some very warm temperatures and high humidity, the Last Call Music Bar and Grill Car and Bike Show registered 88 cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Awards were presented to the top 40, a Manager's Choice, and five Best of Show.

Here are the Manager's Choice and "Best of" winners:

1971 Dodge Challenger RT
Owner: Phil Monroe

Best Mopar
2016 Dodge Challenger RT
Owner: Bob Kirst

Dale Pearce and his 1950 Chevy 3100 pickup took Best of Show and People's Choice honors at the Pataskala SDB Church Classic Car Show on Sunday.

Here are this week's Central Ohio Car events. This will be the last big Saturday of events for this season.

News and Notes:

The Creative Towing/Advanced Auto Parts show in Marysville on Friday evening registered 38 cars and raised $240 for local charities. October award winners were Jimmy Carmean with a 1950 Ford Tudor, Gilbert Meyers with a 1958 Hotrod Short Bus, and Chris Fannin with a 1957 Chevy Pickup.

The Empty Pockets Cruisers hosted their annual Trunk or Treat Car Show at the Hilliard Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon. The show registered 154 cars. Once again there was a great turnout of kids for the trunk or treat part of the show. The only disappointment was the absence of the Ohio Zombie Guard due to the health issues of one of its members.

The special award winners Saturday were:

Jim Cooper reports that the Grace Point Church Car Show in Lewis Center had an excellent turnout for a first-time show. The church registered 102 cars. The church presented Best of Show, Pastor's Choice, and Top 20 awards. Jim says there's plenty of room for the show to grow if the church decides to host it again next year.

I was a little surprised to see several more events announced last week. Check out the Save the Dates for 2020 page for a list of shows and cruise-ins through the end of the year.

Here are this week's Central Ohio car events.

News and Notes:

Not only is the Der Dutchman Cruise-In setting big attendance records this summer, but so is Columbus Cars & Coffee at Lennox Town Center. They are reporting on their Facebook page that more than 500 cars turned out this past Saturday morning!

Speaking of big attendance, Big Dawg and the C-Town Cruisers had 190 cars show up for their Labor Day car meet at the American Legion Southway Post 144 in Columbus. Our very good friend, Russ Annis, and his 1967 Chevy Chevelle SS took Best of Show honors.

The Performance Classic Car Show Cruise-in scheduled for October 11th in Delaware, Ohio did not receive approval from the Delaware County Board of Health to hold the event so it has been canceled.

I reported last week that the Empty Pocket Cruiser's Trunk or Treat show had been canceled because the Hilliard Presbyterian Church decided not to host the show due to Covid-19. Well, this week the City of Hilliard has decided Trick or Treating is okay so the Church has changed its mind and will host the show. Everyone will have to wear masks and gloves and pass out candy directly to the children per the Hilliard trick or treat mandate.

I'm still updating the Save the Dates for 2020 page. Check out this page for a complete list of events through the end of the season.

Here are the Central Ohio car events for the last week of August. Only three more months left to the season.

News and Notes:

The Der Dutchman Cruise-In in Plain City set another attendance record Thursday evening with 401 cars! They might just hit 500 before the season is over.

On Saturday, Steve and Nancy Kidwell's 1938 Chevy took the Best of Show award at the O'Reilly Auto Parts show in Canal Winchester.

The Best Truck award went to Jeff Shankle's 1950 Ford F1 Pickup.

Big Dawg and the C-Town Cruisers registered 108 cars Sunday at the VFW Post 8794 show in Whitehall. The 1955 Chevy Bel Air belonging to Joe and Sue Schutt took Best of Show honors.

Some more events were added to the Save the Dates for 2020 page this week. As of this moment, September is going to be a busy month.

Here are the Central Ohio car events for this week. This weekend was suppose to be the alternate dates for the Arthritis Foundation Classic Car Show so there's not much on the schedule. Of course, that could change as the week progresses.

News and Notes:

The Der Dutchman Cruise-In in Plain City had another great week of attendance with almost 300 cars.

It was one of those rare weeks where there were no shows to remove on the Save the Dates for 2020 page. Surprisingly, there were a good number of events added. The big news is Colo's Classic Car Show at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has been announced for Saturday, October 3.

Here are the Central Ohio car events for the last full week of July. Hard to believe we're halfway through the season.

Just a reminder to check back here often as this list will most certainly change as we move through the week.

News and Notes:

Of course the big news last week was the cancellation of the Arthritis Foundation Classic Car Show and Cruise-In that was scheduled for August 20-22 in Dublin, Ohio. A few more significant shows also ended up on the chopping block thanks to the Governor's mass gathering orders. These included the Annual Buckeye Ranch Car Show in Ashville, The Cruisin with the Cops Car Show in downtown Bucyrus, The Charitable Open Car Show in Sunbury, and the Dublin Am Rotary Classic Car Show scheduled for September 6 in Dublin, Ohio.

Despite the cancelations, there were a few additional shows announced last week. The biggest of these being the USA Days Car Show in Centerburg, Ohio scheduled for September 13.

When I posted last week's list of events, there wasn't much on the schedule at the start of the week. By the end of the week, however, two events had been canceled and five new events added. I think this is going to be the norm for the rest of the season so check back often, especially towards the end of the week.

News and Notes:

BREAKING NEWS: I Just received messages from two readers that there will be NO Jack Maxton Friday Night Cruise-Ins this year. Word has it the dealership will be under new ownership soon.

The one and only cruise I've done so far this year is the Senior Celebration Street Cruise and Great Garage Door Contest in Obetz. The purpose of the cruise was to honor the Senior Graduates of Hamilton Township High School and the senior citizens of Obetz. It was an interesting cruise in that it offered awards for Best Paint, Most Unique, Best Modern, Best Classic, Best Overall, and Best Motorcycle as voted on by the spectators along the cruise route. There was also a participation award advertised for all those that registered for the cruise.

My car wasn't selected for any of the special awards, however, I did receive a $25 BP gas card in the mail this week for participating in the cruise. Not bad for a 45 minutes drive around Obetz!

The beautiful weather this weekend, especially on Sunday, made it all but impossible to shelter at home.

Two car meets on Sunday, one at the Target store in Powell, Ohio, and the other at the Coldstone Creamery on Polaris Parkway in Columbus, took advantage of the nice weather to attract more than 130 cars. I stopped by both meets to take photos and reconnect with friends.

After a two month absence, Dick "Hot Dog" Ryman and the Heart of Ohio Antique Center in Springfield, Ohio held it's first cruise-in of the year. With 148 vehicles in attendance, the cruise-in has the distinction of being the biggest event so far in Central Ohio.

Cars & Coffee: After shutting down for twelve weeks due to the coronavirus, Columbus Cars and Coffee at Lennox Town Center is considering starting back up this weekend. Nothing has been officially set in stone so stay tuned. The other Columbus Cars and Coffee has the Esoteric Open house on its schedule. I spoke with a team member from Esoteric on Monday and they're still undecided about hosting the event this Saturday. I hope to post updates on both events later in the week.

Der Dutchman Plain City: Just received a text from Wayne Nisly Monday evening. He's got approval to start the Der Dutchman cruise-ins on June 18. Yippee!

A few more events were added to the Save the Dates for 2020 page this week. The most notable of these is the Empty Pockets Cruisers Armed Forces Day show. The show has been rescheduled for August 8. Unfortunately, there were also some cancellations. This page is still updated pretty much daily so check-in often.

With the start of May, I predicted that cars shows taking place in 40-degree weather would be over for a while. Boy, did this weekend make a liar out of me!

Rain and cold temperatures both Friday and especially Saturday kept a lot of cars at home. The Vintage Auto Club of Delaware, Ohio First Friday cruise-in had only 20 cars show up this month.

The good news from the evening is that our good friend, Frank Sanborn, won the 50/50 raffle and donated his half back to the club. As a result, $110 will be going to Hospice of Delaware.

I was one of only nine cars that turned out for Coffee and Cars at the Richwood Bank in Delaware, Ohio on Saturday morning. Temperatures fluctuated between 49 and 50 degrees all morning with a pretty stiff wind out of the north.
