A big week for events, especially Saturday with 16 events on the schedule. No excuse not to make at least one car show or cruise-in this week.

NEWS AND NOTES:

The former "On the Rocks" car show is back under a new name. The bar and grill at Karric Square in Dublin, Ohio has undergone several owners since the last car show was held there in September 2018. It is now called the Last Call Music Bar & Grill. The show is scheduled for Sunday, June 20. No other show in Central Ohio could spark a stronger reaction from people than the old On the Rocks show. It will be interesting to see how the new show is received.

Despite light showers in the area, the first Der Dutchman Cruise-In of the season registered 117 cars. Five of those cars were first-timers to the cruise-in.

Over the winter, the restaurant built a larger foodshed to better accommodate the large number of people that attend the cruise-in each week.

Columbus Cars and Coffee held their second meet of the season at Esoteric Fine Auto Finishing in New Albany, Ohio. Even with temperatures in the 40s Saturday morning, there was an excellent turnout. If you're into high-end, exotic cars this was the place to be.

Boots and the Auto Smarts Radio team were in Upper Arlington, Ohio on Saturday for the fourth Annual Jim Hamilton Car Show. The show registered 135 cars with a bunch more showing up but not registering.

The Best of Show award went to Perry Lynch with a 1937 Chevy 2 door sedan.

If you grew up in Columbus in the '60s and '70s and you had a "hot" car, you knew Jerry's Drive-In at the corner of High Street and Morse Road was the place to hang out. You couldn't miss the huge pulsating neon red arrow as you drove down High Street.

The last cruise-in at that location took place Saturday evening. The Tee Jayes restaurant currently there now will soon be replaced by a Chic-FiL-A. It's always sad to see an era come to a close. Lots of folks have fond memories cruising through that parking lot. A big shout out to Chad Shirtzinger for organizing this final cruise-in.

It was another big week for car show and cruise-in announcements. Check out the Save the Dates for 2021 page for the most comprehensive list of upcoming Central Ohio car events.

There are events Wednesday through Saturday this week. Sunday is Mother's Day. Nothing local is scheduled so everyone can spend time with their mother and their children's mother.

The weekly cruise-in at the Der Dutchman restaurant in Plain City, Ohio starts this week. The start is three weeks earlier than in past years.

NEWS AND NOTES:

The monthly Marysville Muscle Cruise-in attracted more the 70 cars Friday evening. Auto Smarts Radio personality Dan "Boots" Longenette was there with his BADD '57 pulling his new custom trailer.

The Rod Knockers car club out of Marion, Ohio had another good turnout for their Ladies Night show. The club registered 94 cars at the Marion Rural King Saturday evening. The ladies picked all the award winners.

The Club's Favorite award (aka Best of Show) went to Tim Keckler and his 1927 Model T Ford.

It was a wild morning at the Toy Barn in Dublin, Ohio on Sunday. The high-end used car dealer held their spring car show. I don't know the exact count, but my guess is close to 300 cars turned out for the event. The line of cars just kept coming and coming.

If you're a car enthusiast, a show/cruise-in like this is akin to a kid in a candy shop. Almost every genre of the automobile is represented. There were classic cars, high-end exotics, muscle cars, rat rods, electric cars, and trucks. About the only thing not there were motorcycles.

You couldn't ask for a better morning for a car show/cruise-in. And the big crowd of spectators proved it. If you'd like to see more cars from the Toy Barn show, Click Here.

The Sunday Afternoon Car Meet at the Point on Main finishes out this week's News and Notes. Host, Shaun "Big Dawg" Sanders and the C-Town Cruisers, registered more than 100 cars Sunday afternoon at the restaurant.

The Best of Show award went to Frank and his low mileage Ford Saleen Mustang.

The events are coming in so fast I'm struggling to keep the Save the Dates for 2021 page up-to-date. Check out the page for the most comprehensive list of upcoming car events in Central Ohio.

I always consider the first weekend in April the “official” start of the Central Ohio car show season. Some may argue it starts in March but I consider those March events to be more like a Preseason.

Here is the first weekly list of Central Ohio events for the 2021 season. These weekly lists will be posted on Monday or Tuesday from now until the end of November. If you would like to receive email notification when the list is posted, please click the “Subscribe” link in the page header above. News and Notes:

On Friday evening, both the inaugural Marysville Muscle Cruise-In and Spring Car and Bike Show at Tony’s Bar and Grill in London, Ohio had good turn outs for early season shows.

The Spring show in London registered around 45 vehicles. The Best of Show award went to this Ghost Busters themed Dodge Challenger.

Due to the recent behavior of some attendees, the organizers of Cars and Coffee at Lennox Town Center have decided to CANCEL the Saturday morning meets indefinitely. They hope to be back in the fall with new plans. Here’s their Facebook post. There’s always some bad actors that spoil the fun for everyone.

Most notable for this last week of October are several Thursday and Friday Halloween events.

News and Notes:

Not much left on the Save the Dates for 2020 page. Assuming nothing new is announced this week, I count only six events remaining for the rest of the year after this coming weekend.
