This is it, folks. The final listing of car events for this season. Just like March, I'm listing ALL the events for the entire month of November. I'll be posting my final thoughts on 2021 towards the end of the month so stay tuned for that.

NEWS AND NOTES:
Rain on Friday and Saturday postponed or canceled a number of events. Those events that did go on rain or shine had very low turnouts as you can imagine.
One of those events, The Spooktacular Halloween Show at the Point on Main Restaurant in Columbus, Ohio registered around 20 cars on Saturday. With decent weather, that show would have been pushing 100 cars or more. The Best of Show Award went to John Van Paepeghem, Jr with a 1965 Ford Falcon Convertible (that's John in the black ball cap and hoody).
American Legion Southway Post 144 Trunk or Treat Meet:
The rain finally cleared out for Sunday's American Legion Southway Post 144 Trunk or Treat Meet hosted by Shaun "Big Dawg" Sanders and the C-Town Cruisers.
A car show enthusiasts enjoying the dry weather
The show registered 60 cars. Awards were presented to the "Top 30" cars. There were special awards for Best Costume, Best Dressed Vehicle, and Best of Show.
Best Costume went to Karson Musick dressed as a character from Paw Patrol.
Kenny G and his 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat received the Best Dressed Vehicle Award.
And finally, Best of Show went to Phil Monroe with a 1971 Dodge Challenger RT.
All in All, it turned out to be a fun afternoon of trunking or treating at the American Legion Southway Post. Check out the show's PHOTO PAGE for more cars and scenes from the show.

It's a surprisingly full lineup for the last week of October. There are a ton of Trunk or Treat events this week. I tried to include only those that focused on classic, muscle, and performance cars.
Marysville Muscle and Honda Motorsports Bike Night will be joining forces at the Honda Motorsports lot on Friday evening in Marysville, Ohio . There will be a costume contest, 50/50 raffle and Geezers BQ on site. The combined meet is schedules from 5 PM to 7 PM.

Not much to report this week. For the first time since April, I did not attend a car show or cruise-in. If the weather cooperates, I should have big report next week.
On a somber note, Terry McReynolds passed away on Monday, October 18th. Terry was the Pace Truck Driver at Columbus Motor Speedway for more than 20 years. Recently, Terry was an integral part of the Pepsi's Auto Smarts Radio Cruise and Ride team. If you participated in one of Boots's shows this year, you most likely interacted with Terry at the registration trailer. May he R.I.P.

This will be the last BIG Saturday of events for the 2021 season. The number of events starts to taper off after this weekend. This weekend will also mark the "unofficial" start to the Trunk or Treat season so get those Halloween costumes and candy ready.

Der Dutchman Cruise-in:
Here's my final word on the Der Dutchman Cruise-in for this year. The banquet was this past Thursday. During the banquet, Wayne Nisly who manages the cruise-in pointed out that the cruise-in registered more than 2900 cars this summer. It sure has come a long way from the 18 cars that showed up the very first time I attended the cruise-in back in 2013.
Creative Automotive/Advanced Auto Parts Store:
This month's Creative Automotive/Advanced Auto Parts show in Marysville, Ohio registered 20 cars on Friday evening. The show raised $144 for the Marysville and Milford Center Food Pantries.

LaRue Fall Bang Car Show:
The town of LaRue, Ohio held its Fall Bang Festival this past Friday and Saturday. For the first time, the Festival included a car show on Friday evening. The show registered between 35 and 40 cars. The organizers hope to make it an annual event.

Performance Charity Car Show:
The Performance Charity Car Show in downtown Delaware, Ohio was originally scheduled for July 17 but because of weather forecasts calling for all-day showers (which didn't happen by the way), it was rescheduled to this past Saturday. As it turned out, it was a good call. The weather couldn't have been more perfect for a car show.
I predicted the show would be the biggest event of the weekend in Central Ohio and I was spot on. The show registered 460 cars. Counting those cars that showed up but didn't register, there were more than 500 cars during the afternoon in downtown Delaware on Saturday.
The show presented awards to the top 100 cars along with 20 Best of Show trophies. My unofficial "Early Bird" or "Are You Crazy" award goes to Sam and Barbara Parks. They arrived in the dark before Sandusky Street was even closed which was scheduled for 6 AM! The longest distance traveled was a car from South Carolina.
The Best of Show award went to Sherman and Austin Buck and their 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner:

Marysville Car Meet:
Between 75 and 80 cars showed up at the old Kroger parking lot in Marysville, Ohio for a Sunday afternoon car meet. It was definitely a younger crowd. Mustangs were the popular model of the day. There were a few Camaros and Corvettes and a couple of vehicles you don't see every day.
Other Area Shows:
The Hebron Nazarene Car and Truck Show registered 111 cars on Saturday. The 1959 DeSoto Fireflite Sportsman belonging to Jesse and Kaylee Bickel took the Best of Show honors.
Seventy-six cars turned out for the Danville Memorial Park Car Show on Sunday.

Here are the events scheduled for this last weekend of September. Once again it's a big one! If past history is any indication, the two biggest shows of the weekend will be the Sunbury Lions Club Country Cruise-in and the North Hills Car and Bike Show. Both are on Sunday.

Der Dutchman:
The Der Dutchman Restaurant in Plain City, Ohio held two cruise-ins this week. Their weekly cruise-in on Thursday evening attracted 347 cars. It turned out to be a wonderful evening to hang out with friends.
Saturday morning the restaurant hosted its annual Coffee and Donuts cruise-in. More than 80 cars stopped in for a cup of coffee and a famous Der Dutchman donut. By 11 AM everyone was experiencing a pretty good sugar and caffeine buzz.

Farrow Hot Rods and Handlebars:
Saturday evening the Farrow Harley Davidson Dealership in Sunbury, Ohio hosted their second Hot Rods and Handlebars Car and Bike Show of the season. The event was sponsored by Rabid Customs, Ricart Automotive, and of course, Farrow Harley-Davidson.
The Parking lot was divided into two sections, one for the motorcycles and the other for the cars. Two food trucks and a beer garden provided refreshments. A live band (sorry, don't know the name) entertained the crowd.
Entry to the show was free for spectators and motorcycles. If you wanted your car included in the judging for a trophy, a $10 donation to charity was requested. With the $10 donation also came a 16 oz bottle of Jax Wax Hawaiian Shine, microfiber towel, and air freshener. Not a bad deal.
On the car side, there were trophies for the top 25, third and second place, and Best of Show. I believe there were three awards for the motorcycles.
The car registration forms were not numbered so I don't have an accurate count of registered cars. I'm guessing somewhere around 100 cars with another 50 that showed up but didn't register. All I can say about the bikes is there were a lot of them! I didn't spend much time in the bikes section. There was a lot to keep up with the cars. I did, however, discover (as did many others) a "Legends of Rock" themed bike that was absolutely amazing. You'll have to check it out on the show's PHOTO PAGE. Let me know how many rock legends you can name.

Coughlin Chevrolet of Pataskala Car Show:
Coughlin Chevrolet of Pataskala, Ohio held its 12th annual car show on Saturday. Advertised as "Ohio's Best Free Car Show", the event registered close to 200 cars.
The show attracted mostly Corvettes with maybe 40-50 cars being other makes and models. Trophies were presented to the Top 100 cars. There was no Best of Show award.

All Oldsmobile Car Show and Swap Meet:
On Sunday, the Mid-Ohio Chapter of the Oldsmobile Club of America held their 34th Annual All Oldsmobile Car Show and Swap Meet at Quaker Steak and Lube in Columbus, Ohio.
The club registered 75 Oldsmobiles. Trophies were presented to the Top 20 cars as voted on by those participating in the show.
Even though I don't own an Oldsmobile, the first car my wife and I bought as a married couple was a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme so I have a little soft spot in my heart for the brand. Unfortunately, I only saw one 1977 Cutlass. It was a 442 not a supreme.

Other Area Shows:
Reports are the Jax Wax Car Show on Saturday registered close to 400 cars. Steve Andrix and his 1954 Chevy Bel Air received the Best of Show award.
The turn out for Pepsi's Auto Smarts Radio Cruise and Ride at Columbus Auto Resale on Saturday was between 50 and 60 cars.
The Cupola Classic Car Show in Johnstown, Ohio on Sunday had 160 cars in attendance.

Another month of the season is in the books. Only two and half months of events left for this year.
This week's list includes events scheduled on Labor Day, and boy is this holiday weekend packed. The 10-day forecast calls for cooler temperatures. Let's hope it's accurate.

Der Dutchman Cruise-In:
Although a drop of rain never fell on the Der Dutchman Restaurant in Plain City, Ohio Thursday evening, the weather around the area kept attendance down to 77 cars. I got caught in a downpour driving through Dublin, Ohio on my way to the cruise-in. My black Camaro needs a thorough washing this week as it's a mess.
Jay Vanscoy Car Show:
The Hilliard, Ohio Church of Christ hosted the first Annual Jay Vanscoy Car Show on Saturday. The show is a memorial to Jay Vanscoy, the son of Senior Minister Danny Vanscoy. Jay passed away in January.
The show registered 55 cars. The registration fee was $15 and included a tee-shirt, a very nice "goodie" bag, and a door prize raffle ticket.
The Church presented three awards, People's Choice, Preacher's Pick, and Best of Show. Here are the award-winning cars. See a common theme here?

Plain City Classic Car Cruise-In:
Chapman Ford and the Uptown Plain City Organization hosted their 18th annual Plain City Classic Car Cruise-In in downtown Plain City, Ohio Saturday afternoon.
The event registered 135 vehicles. Ribbons were presented to the Top 40 cars. There were several special award trophies and a Best of Show.
This year's Best of Show Award went to Dave and Jane Winkle and their 1958 Chevy Corvette convertible.
Krieger Ford Mustang & Ford Car Show:
The Mustang Club of Ohio and Krieger Ford held their 47th Annual ALL Mustang and Ford Car Show on Sunday at the Krieger Ford Dealership in Columbus, Ohio.
As a Camaro and Corvette owner, the hour and a half I was at the show taking photos was tough on me, but for the good of the Central Ohio car community, I managed to hang in there long enough to get some nice photos.
In all seriousness, I saw a lot of very nice cars. By my unofficial count, there were between 125 and 130 cars registered. If you're into Mustangs and Fords or just cars in general, Krieger Ford was the place to be Sunday afternoon.
There was no overall Best of Show winner. Each Mustang and Ford was entered into a class based on model year, model, and mods. Awards were presented to the top cars in each class based on points.

14th Annual Car Show at Culp Lake:
The car show at Culp Lake in Springfield, Ohio attracted 144 cars on Sunday. The show is in a park-like setting so there were plenty of trees around to escape some of the heat.

Bob Pool Orphan Car Show in Yellow Springs, Ohio registered 98 cars on Saturday
Moundbuilders Motor Mania in Newark on Sunday had 68 cars participate in the show

This week Central Ohio has a jam-packed Friday and Saturday line-up of events. Twenty-three events are on the schedule between those two days.
The marquee events this week are the Vettes, Rods, and Classics Car Show in Gahanna, The Vance Outdoor Car Show in Obetz, and the Powell Cruize-In and Pig Out in Powell.
NEWS AND NOTES:
Rain on Thursday dampened the Der Dutchman Cruise-In in Plain City, Ohio. I received word that only 26 cars braved the scattered thunderstorms and showed up last week.
Shaun "Big Dawg" Saunders and the C-Town Cruisers partnered with the Pharisburg United Methodist Church in Marysville, Ohio for a car show/cruise-in on Friday evening.
The show registered 50 cars. A free-will offering 50's style diner was served.
The Best of Show Award went to Janice and Sam Foos and their 1957 Ford Skyliner.

The Vanity Gentlemen's Club in Columbus, Ohio was the scene of the Heels & Wheels Car Show on Saturday afternoon. As you can guess by the location and name, it was not your traditional car show.
The Gentlemen's Club registered a total of 55 vehicles. The $15 registration fee also included a door prize ticket. I've got to say those were some of the better door prizes I've seen this season.
Everyone who registered a car got a chance to vote on awards for their favorite Vanity dancer. Since this is a "G" rated website, I won't list the name of the awards. I'll leave that up to your imagination.
The dancers did all the judging. Their pick for Best of Show was William Brown's 1979 Ford Mustang Pace Car.

At the other end of the spectrum from the Heels & Wheels show was the Purple Door Cruise-In at the Grove City Methodist Church.
The show busted its previous attendance record of 135 cars by registering 174 vehicles on Saturday.
Best of Show honors went to our good friend, Jeff Shankle, and his 1951 Ford F1 pickup.
The Life City Church in Pickerington, Ohio registered 80 cars on Saturday. Registration and everything else I'm told was free.
On Sunday the Buckeye Rod Builders hosted the 41st Annual Poor Man's Nationals at the Pastime Park in Plain City, Ohio. Just like in 2019, the event was free and open to all makes, models, and years. In other words, it was a big cruise-in. And big it was with over 245 cars. Just goes to show trophies aren't necessary to attract a large gathering of cars. Just offer some door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, refreshments, a good location, and some nice weather and they will come.

And finally, The C-Town Cruisers were out at The Point on Main Sunday afternoon for their monthly show at the restaurant. The Cruisers registered a little over 60 cars.
Steve Kidwell received the Best of Show award with his 1965 Pontiac GTO. Charlie Seymour and his 1967 Nova took the Ladies Choice honors.
