Just when you thought the Central Ohio car event schedule couldn't get any busier, it does just that. If you can't find a show or cruise-in close to home this weekend, you may need to seek the help of a professional. Let's hope the weather cooperates for all these events.

NEWS AND NOTES:

I received confirmation last week from two readers that the Vintage Auto Club of Delaware has officially disbanded. I've removed First Friday at Freddy's from the list of ongoing events since it's no longer an organized event.

The Vintage Auto Club organized and hosted the Blast from the Past Car Show in downtown Delaware, Ohio from 1994 through 2016. They were instrumental in making the show one of the largest car events in Central Ohio.

With the threat of rain along with hot and humid temperatures, the Thursday evening cruise-in at Der Dutchman in Plain City, Ohio only registered 85 cars. I've got to admit, the pre-2018 attendance figure on Thursday was rather refreshing. The place can get a little crazy when 300 plus cars show up.

The Creative Automotive/Advanced Auto Parts Show in Marysville on Friday evening raised more than $150 for the Marysville Food Pantry. Here are this month's award-winning cars:

The 1970 silver and black Buick GS belonging to Jeff Fortner won Best of Show honors Saturday at the Upine Biker Bash, Car Show, and Cruise-In at Farrows Harley Davidson in Sunbury, Ohio. Rhett Ricart, CEO of the Ricart Automotive Group, was there with his 1939 Cadillac and LS3.

The big winner this weekend was Sam Parks' 1948 Chevrolet pickup. It won Best of Show honors on Saturday at the Hilliard Historical Society Car Show and turned around and took the same award on Sunday at the Empty Pockets Cruisers Spring into Summer Show. Sam has been all over Central Ohio with his truck this season. It's a spectacular vehicle.

Other specialty award winners from the Spring into Summer Show include:

Event announcements are still coming in. Krieger Ford announced their Mustang and Ford Car Show last week. The Fourth of July Show at the Union County Fairgrounds has been canceled. The show is moving to October 16 and will be part of the three-day Red Neck Car Fest.

Another big week of events in Central Ohio. The Auto Smarts crew will be in Grove City on Saturday. The Hilliard Historical Society is holding their annual car show, and the Empty Pockets Cruisers will be at Dave and Busters in Hilliard on Sunday for the Spring into Summer event.

NEWS AND NOTES:

Does anyone have any information on the Vintage Auto Club of Delaware? Is the club still active? Only four cars associated with the club showed up for the First Friday Cruise at Freddie’s on Rt 23. There was no music, door prizes, or 50/50 raffle. I heard a rumor the club has disbanded. If this rumor is true, please let me know in the comments.

Speaking of Delaware, the downtown First Friday event made the last-minute decision to block off part of Sandusky Street for classic cars to park. Whether or not this continues next month and beyond is still to be decided.

The Delaware Richwood Bank restarted their monthly Saturday morning cruise-ins. This month's cruise-in wasn't well advertised so only 19 cars turned out. Anyone bringing a car could get a free cup of coffee or latte from the coffee bar inside the bank. Participants were also eligible to register for several door prizes. The bank plans to hold two more cruise-ins on the first Saturday in August and September. They are tentatively planning a Halloween cruise in October weather permitting.

Because of inclement weather, The Cruisin' The Point Car, Bike, and Truck Show benefitting Summit for Soldiers was postponed a week. The show on Saturday registered a little over 50 cars. The Best of Show award went to Cadillac Mac and his Ford Galaxy 500.

On Sunday, Big Dawg and the C-Town Cruisers hosted the second show of the weekend at The Point on Main Sports Bar and Grill. The Point has become the quasi home base for the C-Town Cruisers.

Fifty-one cars registered for Sunday’s event. Once again more cars showed up that didn’t register.

Jeff Tolley and his 1965 Chevy C-10 pickup received the inaugural Larry Bickers Memorial Award. Larry passed away in May and was a regular participant at C-Town Cruiser events. The award will be presented at every C-Town Cruiser show going forward. It will be given to the individual who demonstrates a love for cars and exemplifies the car show/cruise-in culture.

The Ladies Choice selection went to the 1959 Cadillac belonging to Phillip Cunningham.

The Best of Show pick went to Jed Pallone with a 1952 Cadillac Coupe DeVille.

A bunch of Central Ohio car show regulars headed south on Sunday to the Lancaster, Ohio Fairgrounds for the Lancaster Old Car Show.

I’m told attendance was about 75% of what it had been in pre-Covid years. Despite the drop in attendance, the show still attracted more than 300 cars. The show presented awards to the top 50. There was no Best of Show.

If you would like to see more photos from the C-Town Cruisers and Lancaster shows, CLICK HERE.

A big shout out to Jon Kelly and Larry Walters for sending in photos to help make this week’s report.

The events keep coming. The calendar is starting to fill in for July, August and September. To see an up-to-date list of events for the rest of the year, head on over to The Save the Dates for 2021 page.

It's another good week of Central Ohio Car events.

NEWS AND NOTES:

The weather couldn't have been any better this past weekend and it showed in attendance. As someone said, Central Ohio finally had a spring this year instead of going directly from winter into summer.

Der Dutchman had another strong showing. More than 270 cars turned out for the Thursday cruise-in at the restaurant in Plain City, Ohio.

Friday evening in Marysville, Ohio, The Creative Automotive/Advanced Auto Parts monthly show registered 29 vehicles.

The show raised $173 for the Milford Center Trinity Chapel Food Pantry.

Here are the cars that received awards this month:

Overflow parking was needed for the Empty Pocket Cruisers Armed Forces Day Show on Saturday afternoon. The club registered 178 cars at the VFW Post 4931 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Most Patriotic Award went to Frank Deering and his 2000 Corvette. The 1953 Chevy 3100 pickup truck belonging to Dean Maisenbacher received the Best of Show award.

For more photos from the Armed Forces Day Show, Click Here.

Larry Waters was kind enough to send some photos from the Harvey West Memorial Cruise-In at Alumcreek State Park beach on Saturday. Approximately 50 cars turned out for the event.

The 1948 Chevy Pickup owned by Sam and Barbara Parks in the bottom photo was built by Harvey West.

The Mid Ohio Cruisers hosted their second show of the season at its new Burger King location off State Route 31.

The club registered 72 cars, however, closer to 90 cars showed up during the evening. The Burger King doesn't have an abundance of parking so there was some concern as to where all the cars were going to park. The club did a good job of spreading the cars to part of the lot at Turkey Hill next to Burger King, and the street and daycare facility behind the restaurant.

The Hilliard Historic Village at Weaver Park in Hilliard, Ohio was the venue for the inaugural Conkey Classic Car Show on Saturday. The show registered 65 cars. The show presented eight awards from Shiniest Wheels, Kids Choice, to Best Exterior. All voting was done using a QR code through a smartphone (interesting). All proceeds from the show went to the Conkey Charity for Covid Victims. Congratulation to Tim Foremen and his 2016 Camaro SS convertible for winning the Best Exterior award.

Cruis'in the O'Reilly Auto Parts on Harrisburg Pike in Columbus is the final show in this week's News and Notes report. Approximately 60 cars participated in the show on Sunday. Kevin Foust and his 1941 Dodge WC 40 took home the Best of Show award.

Car show and cruise-in announcements slowed a little last week. Despite the slow down, the Save the Dates for 2021 page still has the most comprehensive list of Central Ohio car events for the 2021 season.

There are events Wednesday through Saturday this week. Sunday is Mother's Day. Nothing local is scheduled so everyone can spend time with their mother and their children's mother.

The weekly cruise-in at the Der Dutchman restaurant in Plain City, Ohio starts this week. The start is three weeks earlier than in past years.

NEWS AND NOTES:

The monthly Marysville Muscle Cruise-in attracted more the 70 cars Friday evening. Auto Smarts Radio personality Dan "Boots" Longenette was there with his BADD '57 pulling his new custom trailer.

The Rod Knockers car club out of Marion, Ohio had another good turnout for their Ladies Night show. The club registered 94 cars at the Marion Rural King Saturday evening. The ladies picked all the award winners.

The Club's Favorite award (aka Best of Show) went to Tim Keckler and his 1927 Model T Ford.

It was a wild morning at the Toy Barn in Dublin, Ohio on Sunday. The high-end used car dealer held their spring car show. I don't know the exact count, but my guess is close to 300 cars turned out for the event. The line of cars just kept coming and coming.

If you're a car enthusiast, a show/cruise-in like this is akin to a kid in a candy shop. Almost every genre of the automobile is represented. There were classic cars, high-end exotics, muscle cars, rat rods, electric cars, and trucks. About the only thing not there were motorcycles.

You couldn't ask for a better morning for a car show/cruise-in. And the big crowd of spectators proved it. If you'd like to see more cars from the Toy Barn show, Click Here.

The Sunday Afternoon Car Meet at the Point on Main finishes out this week's News and Notes. Host, Shaun "Big Dawg" Sanders and the C-Town Cruisers, registered more than 100 cars Sunday afternoon at the restaurant.

The Best of Show award went to Frank and his low mileage Ford Saleen Mustang.

The events are coming in so fast I'm struggling to keep the Save the Dates for 2021 page up-to-date. Check out the page for the most comprehensive list of upcoming car events in Central Ohio.

Here’s this weekend’s list of Central Ohio car events. Saturday has a selection of events to cover the entire day. Lets pray for decent weather.

NEWS AND NOTES:

As most of you may already know by now, Governor DeWine has closed the Ohio State Fair to the public over continued pandemic concerns. What impact this will have on the Goodguys Summit Racing Nationals scheduled for July 9 - 11 is anyone’s guess. Don’t be surprised if the event is canceled for a second year in a row. I will post updates on its status as soon as they are announced.

Showers on Friday evening didn’t stop 20 cars from attending the Creative Automotive/Advanced Auto Parts Car Show in Marysville, Ohio. The event raised $95 for the Marysville Food Pantry. Here are the award winning cars for this month:

Most notable for this last week of October are several Thursday and Friday Halloween events.

News and Notes:

Not much left on the Save the Dates for 2020 page. Assuming nothing new is announced this week, I count only six events remaining for the rest of the year after this coming weekend.

Here are this week's Central Ohio Car events. This will be the last big Saturday of events for this season.

News and Notes:

The Creative Towing/Advanced Auto Parts show in Marysville on Friday evening registered 38 cars and raised $240 for local charities. October award winners were Jimmy Carmean with a 1950 Ford Tudor, Gilbert Meyers with a 1958 Hotrod Short Bus, and Chris Fannin with a 1957 Chevy Pickup.

The Empty Pockets Cruisers hosted their annual Trunk or Treat Car Show at the Hilliard Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon. The show registered 154 cars. Once again there was a great turnout of kids for the trunk or treat part of the show. The only disappointment was the absence of the Ohio Zombie Guard due to the health issues of one of its members.

The special award winners Saturday were:

Click Here for more photos from the Trunk or Treat Show.

Jim Cooper reports that the Grace Point Church Car Show in Lewis Center had an excellent turnout for a first-time show. The church registered 102 cars. The church presented Best of Show, Pastor's Choice, and Top 20 awards. Jim says there's plenty of room for the show to grow if the church decides to host it again next year.

I was a little surprised to see several more events announced last week. Check out the Save the Dates for 2020 page for a list of shows and cruise-ins through the end of the year.

Here are the Central Ohio car events for this week.

News and Notes:

I erroneously reported that last week would be the last Grace Chapel cruise-in of the season. Actually, this Wednesday (9/30) will be the last cruise-in at the church. I apologize for the confusion.

The big event this week will be Colo's Classic Car Show at the Columbus Zoo. If the weather is good, you can expect somewhere close to 1000 cars to participate. No question it will be the largest event in Central Ohio for this Coronavirus restricted season.

The Der Dutchman Cruise-in finished the season on a very high note. The Plain City restaurant broke another attendance record with 402 cars on Thursday evening.

To top that off, another 115 cars showed up for the Coffee and Donuts cruise-in Saturday morning. I've got to say there's nothing finer than a "sugar buzz" from a Der Dutchman chocolate long john.

The Cars and Cones Ice Cream Cruise-in had another great turn out with well over 100 cars. Click Here to see some of the rides that showed up Sunday afternoon.

The Shamrock Club of Columbus Classic Car & Bike Show registered 140 cars on Sunday.

Events are still "trickling" in for the last two months of the season. Check out the Save the Dates for 2020 page for a list of shows and cruise-ins through the end of the year.

Here are the car events this week in Central Ohio. Saturday is jam-packed with events from morning to night. Of course, the big event on the schedule is the three days Springfield Swap Meet and Car Show.

News and Notes:

Those that attended the first Der Dutchman Cruise-In of the year on Thursday evening got a little wet. While everything and everybody was still dry, Marty Ruiz managed to get in some photos from the cruise-in.

On Saturday, I stopped by the Ninja Express Car Wash Cruise-In during the afternoon and the Delaware Cruise Night that evening. Both events had good turnouts. Here's a sampling of some of the cars that made it out to each event.

This year's Grace Chapel Car Show in Westerville, Ohio registered 94 cars on Saturday. This was the best-attended show the church has ever hosted.

Best of Show went to the 1957 Ford Thunderbird belonging to Rich Robbins. Henry Ours with a 1940 Ford Panel Delivery truck received the Pastors Choice.

On a related note, Chad Schirtzinger who was the driving force behind the Hilton Polaris Tuesday Night Cruise-Ins last year has received permission from the Pastor at Grace Chapel to hold a weekly cruise-in at the church. The first cruise-in will be this Wednesday (6/24) starting at 5 PM.

For the first time this year, more events were added to the Save the Dates for 2020 page than were canceled. Check out the page for an up-to-date list of upcoming events.

BREAKING NEWS: It was just posted that the Vettes, Rods & Classics show at Creekside in Gahanna, Ohio slated for August 1st has been canceled this year. This show has been rated as one of the top car events in Central Ohio for the last three years. What a bummer!

Here's the list of car events for this weekend in Central Ohio.

I reached out to the Mid Ohio and C-Town Cruisers regarding the status of their events. I haven't heard anything back from either club as of this posting. I did hear it from a friend who heard from another friend that the Mid Ohio Cruisers were planning to have another cruise this month instead of a show. I don't have any info on the cruise other then it will take place Saturday evening (Click the Mid Ohio Cruisers link below for cruise info).

UPDATE: The C-Town Cruiser events for this weekend have been canceled.

I contacted the folks at Geer Gas on Monday. Their show is still on for Saturday but it will be a food drive car show. They are sending me a new flyer on Tuesday. UPDATE: The Geer Gas show has been rescheduled to May 23.

In a sign that things may be getting back to some semblance of normal, online registration for the 38th Annual Arthritis Foundation Classic Auto Show in Dublin, Ohio is now open. Click Here to pre-register your vehicles.

And finally, check out the Save the Dates for 2020 page for an up-to-date list of cancellations, postponements, and rescheduled events. I'm updating this page almost daily.
