Hard to believe we’ve already reached the last week of August. We’re looking at September, October, and a couple of weeks in November, and then the Central Ohio car show season will be over.

There’s nothing on the schedule Monday, but things get underway Tuesday with the usual lineup of weekly cruise-ins and bike nights. Saturday’s schedule is a little lighter this week before we head into the final holiday weekend of the summer. The bad news is that some events drop off the schedule after this week.

Der Dutchman Cruise-In:

For the second week in a row, heavy rains and saturated fields forced the cancellation of the Der Dutchman Cruise-In.

Full Throttle Thursdays:

Thursday’s cancellation of the Der Dutchman Cruise-In gave me the opportunity to check out Full Throttle Thursdays at Fortress Obetz. It’s definitely a different type of crowd than what you’ll find each week at Der Dutchman.

I estimated about 40–50 cars showed up while I was there, along with hundreds of motorcycles. Everything was parked outside the Fortress, while inside there were tables and chairs along with a stage set up for the band. Participants could enjoy food from the various food trucks as well as adult beverages.

This week’s band was Jackass Genius, with a lead singer who was definitely doing his best Mick Jagger impersonation.

The event clearly caters to the motorcycle crowd, with some cars and trucks thrown in for good measure.

Between the smell of weed and the obnoxiously loud car stereos blaring in the parking lot, I don’t think I’ll be rushing back anytime soon. If nothing else, I can now say I’ve been there.

NAPA Friday Night Cruise-In:

Just slightly more “laid-back” than Full Throttle Thursdays was the second NAPA Friday Night Cruise-in of the season in Hilliard.

With a perfect evening of weather, about 30 cars stopped by to hang out and talk cars. The quality of the rides was also top notch. And in a complete reversal from Thursday night, I counted exactly one motorcycle. No bands or blaring stereos here either—just a good old-fashioned Friday night cruise-in.

Der Dutchman Cruise-In:

The forecast said sunshine and low 80s for Thursday afternoon, but we ended up with sprinkles, gusty winds, and low 70s. Typical Ohio, right? 😅 Even with the weather doing its own thing, the Der Dutchman Cruise-In still pulled in 209 cars, with 11 of those being first-timers. Not bad at all considering the conditions!

Not only did the Buick Dynaflow-equipped car qualify as the most unique vehicle of the evening, but a group of attendees also showed up sporting some equally unique hats. It made for a great mix of automotive history and lighthearted fun—just the kind of atmosphere that keeps these gatherings memorable.

Friday Night NAPA Cruise-In:

It was a perfect evening for a cruise-in. More than 30 cars turned out for the Friday Night NAPA Cruise-In in Hilliard, Ohio, making the most of the beautiful weather. A nice mix of classics, muscle cars, and European models filled the lot, giving everyone something to check out. The laid-back atmosphere, good conversations, and cool cars made for a great way to kick off the weekend.

Pharisburg UMC Car Show and Cuisine:

With the help of “Big Dawg” and the C-Town Cruisers, the Pharisburg United Methodist Church in Marysville, Ohio, hosted its annual Car Show and Cuisine on Friday evening.

The night had all the right ingredients—good food, classic tunes, and a strong turnout of 54 beautiful rides filling the church grounds. Attendees enjoyed not only the cars but also the chance to gather with friends, enjoy a meal, and listen to vintage favorites that set the perfect backdrop.

Awards were handed out across several categories, including five church awards, a slate of Specialty awards, and the coveted Best of Cruise. This year, that top honor went to Dan Varner and his unrestored 1968 Pontiac GTO, a true survivor that drew plenty of attention throughout the evening.

To capture the atmosphere, Car Show Talk photographer, Jeff Shankle, documented the event, walking the rows of classics and snapping shots of the cars that made this year’s show one to remember.

Der Dutchman Cruise-In:

Thursday's Der Dutchman cruise-in saw a huge turnout with 378 cars.

This 1962 Plymouth Savoy station wagon with 413 Max Wedge engine made a first-time appearance at the cruise-in.

Let's Get Revvved Up For Autism:

On Saturday, BossCars.com in combination with the Delaware Knights Car Club sponsored the Let's Get Revvved Up for Autism Car Show. The show took place at the New Beginnings Church in Delaware, Ohio.

There was no set registration fee. The registration cost was whatever you wished to donate. All proceeds from the show which also included monies raised from door prizes and a 50/50 raffle went to the Autism Society of Central Ohio.

The show registered 71 vehicles. There were awards for the Top 10 cars and trucks, two Favorite Motorcycle awards, Pastor's Choice, Kids Choice, Best Survior, Autism of Central Ohio's Choice, BossCars.com's Choice, Delaware Knights' Choice, and Best of Show. The Favorite Motorcycle Awards were pretty awesome.

The Favorite Motorcycle Awards went to Mark Stover with a 2018 Harley Davidson Street Glide and Corey Hicks with a 2014 Harley Davidson Sportster Forty 48

Butch and Linda Millron's 1953 Chevy 3100 pickup received the Kids Choice Award.

The Pastor's Choice went to the 1951 Ford Business Coupe owned by Darrell Cassell.

Chris Acker's 1957 Jeep-Willeys Army received the Best Survivor Award.

The BossCars.com's Choice went to Scott and Debbie Steck and their 1935 Ford 5 Window Coupe

The Delaware Knights Car Club selected Michael Bullock's 1964 Ford Fairlane as its Choice.

The Autism Society's pick was Pete Fullerton's 1964 Volvo 1800S.

And finally, the Ford Galaxie Fairlane 500 Retractable of Dean Maisenbacher was selected Best of Show.
