NEWS AND NOTES
After some much-needed rain showers on Friday, the weather on Saturday and Sunday was just about ideal for the many car shows on the schedule.
Der Dutchman Cruise-In:
After a slow start, the weekly cruise-in at the restaurant pulled in 327 cars on Thursday. A good portion of them showed up after 5:30 pm.

Next week there will be the regular cruise-in on Thursday and then the annual Coffee and Donuts Cruise-In on Saturday morning from 9 - 11:30 AM. It's my once-a-year treat to a Der Dutchman cream-filled long John Donut. Can't wait!
Richwood Bank Coffee & Cars Cruise-In:
The Richwood Bank in Delaware, Ohio hosted its final Coffee & Cars Cruise-In of the season on Saturday.

There were approximately 25 cars in attendance despite the chilly early morning temperatures.
Along with the Coffee Shop specials inside the bank, there were also raffle prizes at the end of the cruise-in. The prizes included buckets of car care products, pizza coupons, and a $100 gift card to an auto repair and maintenance shop.

Greg Nobis won the grand prize of car care products and an assortment of adult spirits.

It was a good end to Richwood Bank Coffee & Cars Cruise-Ins for 2024.
Nite the Lite Car Show:
The 39th Nite the Lite Car Show took place on the historic Courthouse Square in Newark, Ohio on Saturday.

The show is hosted by the Newark Rodders Car Club and Matheny family.
This year the show registered 570 cars with more than 630 in attendance.
Part of the proceeds from the show go to support lighting the Courthouse with festive Christmas lights during the holiday season.
This is a judged show with the judging carried out by the sponsors of the trophies. This year had more than one hundred four and six foot trophies.

Some six foot winners included Dr. Ron Rogers with his 1968 Dodge Charger.

Kevin Foust's 1941 Dodge WC 40 Military Weapons Carrier.

Gerald Wicker and his 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup.

Here are more of the fantastic rides that attended the Lite the Nite Car Show:
Sons of the American Legion Car Show:
The Sons of the American Legion Post 11 out of Lancaster, Ohio hosted its fourth annual car show on Saturday.
There were 79 registered vehicles.
The cars were divided into 6 classes with five trophies per class plus a Best of Show.
Russ Annis and Steve Boyer received Top 5 Awards in the 1950 - 1969 Class for their 1967 Chevy Chevelle SS and 1967 Chevy Camaro SS.

Doug Glassburn and Dave and Jackie Rolfe-Hiles were Top 5 picks in the Truck Class with a 1972 Chevy C-10 Stepside and a 1962 Dodge D-100 pickup respectively.

Douglas Mullen received a Top 5 in the 1970 - 1989 Class, Lynn Raduege in the 1990 - 2009 Class, and Chad Herrick in the 2010 to Present Class.

The Best of Show award went to the 1934 Chevy Sedan-Rod owned by Walt Beatty.

First Church of God Classic Car & Truck Show:
Thre First Church of God in Bellefontaine, Ohio hosted its inaugural classic car and truck show on Saturday.

The Church was hoping for at least 12 cars to cover the cost of the trophies but had 77 cars attend its first show instead.
From the report I received, the Church did an outstanding job for a first-time car show.
The awards included Top 25, Pastor's Choice, and Best of Show.

The Pastor's Choice went to Craig Burger's 2023 Corvette Stingray.

The Best of Show honors went to Gene Evans and his 1968 Shelby GT.

Here are a few more rides from the Bellefontaine First Church of God Show:
Springdale Baptist Church Hot Rods and Hot Food:
The Springdale Baptist Church in Marysville, Ohio hosted its annual Hot Rods and Hot Food Cruise-In on Saturday evening.
The last two years attendance was 20 and 21 vehicles. This year with almost perfect weather on Saturday evening the cruise-in had 33 cars in attendance.

The Springdale Church already has made plans to host another cruise-in next year on the first Saturday after Labor Day.
Crossroads Car, Truck, & Bike Shows at Chubby Hawaiian and Wings & Rings:
The Crossroads Events team hosted its monthly shows at the Chubby Hawaiian Grill in Baltimore, Ohio on Saturday and the Lewis Center Wings & Rings on Sunday.
The Chubby Hawaiian Grill Best in Show winner was Rod Scott and his very rare 1958 Dodge D-100 Sweptside pickup.

With 40 plus cars in attendance on Sunday at the Lewis Center Wings & Rings, Jim Downing's 1964 Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup received the Veterans Owned Vehicle Award.

The 1936 Plymouth Coupe belonging to Rick and Danielle Grogan was selected Best in Show.

The Crossroads Events next show will be Sunday (9/15) and the Gahanna Community Congregational Church on Havens Corner Rd.
Corvette Gathering XIX:
The Ohio Corvette Club Alliance hosted its 19th Annual Corvette Gathering in downtown Lancaster, Ohio on Sunday.

The Corvette Gathering is essentially a huge cruise-in for Corvettes. There is no judging. It's just a group of Corvette owners and enthusiasts hanging out for the day.
This year the Commemorative event item to all registrants was a floor mat sponsored by Hugh White Chevrolet of Lancaster.
Besides the cars, there were door prizes, a silent auction, and multiple 50/50 raffles.

Along with the local restaurants, there were food trucks from Schmidt's Sausage Haus and Cottage Pizza.
My only negative was the lack of restroom facilities. There was only one port-a-potty. The restrooms in the Glass Museum were available but if you parked up the hill, it was a pretty good hike to the Museum.
With the great weather on Sunday, the Gathering registered well over 400 Corvettes.
Here are the photos I took. You’ll notice I focused on the older generation Corvettes.
The Point On Main Street Car Show:
Big Dawg and the C-Town Cruisers were back at The Point on Main Street hosting the September car show at the sports bar.

The show registered 50 cars on Sunday. There were awards for the Top 30+ and Best of Show.

The Best of Show Award went to Allan Dill and his 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS 396.

All Ohio Ford Show 2024:
The last event to report on for this week is the 14th Annual All Ohio Ford Show that took place on Sunday at Pastime Park in Plain City, Ohio.
Hosted by the United Ford Owners Car Club the show had over 100 cars in attendance.

I can't say enough how much I appreciate the help the Central Ohio car community provides in putting together these reports each week. I couldn't do it without the community's help.
Stay safe out there. I hope to see you at a future car show or cruise-in.
