NEWS AND NOTES
Unsurprisingly, this week's news and notes have a lot of Goodguys-related content.
Der Dutchman Cruise-In:
Goodguys had a lot of people's attention on Thursday. As a result, attendance was a little down this week at exactly 200 cars.

Creative Auto Group/Advanced Auto Parts Car Show:
Jeff Shankle and the Advanced Auto Parts Store in Marysville, Ohio held their July car show Friday evening. There were 13 cars in attendance. The show raised $89 for the Milford Center Food Pantry at the Trinity Church.
The Advanced Auto Parts store manager picks this month were Ron Griffith with a 1965 Ford Falcon, Ray Leopard with a 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass, and yours truly with a 2021 Corvette.

Columbus Cars & Coffee at The City Apartments:
I made my first visit of the season to Columbus Cars & Coffee at the City Apartments on Saturday Morning. By 10 AM there were 80 plus cars in attendance.
The "unofficial" featured car of the morning was the Chevy Chevette. There was a half-dozen of them parked together.

Here are some of the other cars from the morning cars & coffee:
Goodguys Summit Racing Nationals:
Following some pre-show controversy over the construction taking place at the Ohio Expo Center, the three-day event went off without a hitch. The only minor complaint was a little more dust on the cars than in previous years.
Unofficial attendance figures had 4600-plus cars on Friday and just over 6200 cars on Saturday.
The After Parties:
I made my annual Saturday visit to the Goodguys After Parties. The first visit was to the Hilton Polaris Hotel. It was the usual low-key event it has been in past years. Lots of people hanging out and relaxing.

Next was a drive across the street to Quaker Steak & Lube to catch a few burnouts. The black Pontiac was the clear winner of the ones I saw. The burnout from the white Toyota was a little weak.
The final stop was the Crowne Plaza. There were Lots of people, lots of cars, live music, and a food buffet. Hands down the biggest party of the evening.
Here's a little slide show of the festivities from the evening:
Goodguys Summit Racing Nationals - The Show:
I made the trek to the Ohio Expo Center on Sunday. The big advantage to going to Goodguys on Sunday is there is less of a crowd but the award-winning cars are still around. Sunday is also Meguiars All American Sunday. The show is open to all years of American-made and powered vehicles.

Here are the Street Machine and Street Rod of the Year winners:

I walked through the rows of award-winning cars and picked out as many from Central Ohio as I was able to find.

Owners: John & Theresa Fink - Sunbury

Owner: Paul Armstrong - Logan

Owners: Mark & Debi Garrett - Columbus

Owner: Clayton Noggle - Dublin

The Kasich Building indoor car show this year featured 60 years of the Pontiac GTO. Dan Varner had his two "Survivor" GTOs on display.
I'm going to wrap up the 2024 Goodguys Summit Nationals with a slideshow from all the photos my sources tagged me on Facebook along with the ones I took on Sunday. I think It provides a good representation of the three-day event.
Picktown Palooza Car, Truck, & Bike Show:
It's probably hard to believe but there were some other car shows in Central Ohio this weekend besides Goodguys.
The Picktown Palooza Car, Truck, & Bike Show took place Saturday at Pickerington Central High School in Pickerington, Ohio.
Hosted by Shaun "Big Dawg" Sanders and the C-Town Cruisers, the show registered 62 cars.
The Best of Show Award went to Jeffrey Wickham with a 1971 Chevy Monte Carlo SS.

Several Central Ohio cruisers made the drive over to Carlisle Pennsylvania for the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. Approximately 3500 cars attended the three-day event.

That's it for this week's news and notes. Look for lots of photos from the Arthritis Foundation Class Car Show next week. The long-term weather forecast looks fantastic at the moment.
