NEWS AND NOTES
Anymore it seems like Ohio weather skips over spring and goes right from winter into summer. And boy did that happen this past week. High temperatures went from the 40s to 50s the week before right into the 80s. Most events got a pretty big boost in attendance thanks to the warmer weather.
Plain City Tuesday Evening Cruise-In:
The Tuesday evening cruise-In finally had a decent evening of weather and with that came it's best attendance so far of 22 cars.

Der Dutchman Cruise-In:
The Der Dutchman Cruise-In in Plain City went from rain and 55 cars the previous week to sunny, 80 degrees, and 370 cars this week.

Creative Automotive/Advanced Auto Parts Car Show:
The Creative Automotive/Advanced Auto Parts Car Show had 38 cars turn out Friday evening for its monthly show in Marysville.
Between the door prize raffle, 50/50 drawing, and generosity of the those in attendance, the show raised $500 for the family for Doug Leopard who passed away a few weeks ago.
Here are the manager's favorite cars this month:

Spring Fling All Corvette Show:
After a two-year hiatus because of Covid, the Spring Fling All Corvette Show hosted by the Chosen Few Corvette Club returned to Quaker Steak and Lube in Columbus.

Clubs both local and out-of-state were a big part of the 307 Corvettes that registered for the show. The Corvette Crew out of Columbus had the most in-state members in attendance. The Cross Roads Corvette Club from Chicago, Illinois had the best out-of-state participation.

The Chosen Few presented more than 130 awards. Some of the local winners for the C1 to C3 generations included:

Owner: Craig Grunkemeyer

Owner: Frank Deering

Owner: Quentin Sayers

Owner: Gene Milhon

Owners: Steve Kidwell & Nancy
Sponsor's Choice C1 -C3
Local top ten winners in the 8th generation mid-engine class were Jim McGruder (2020), yours truly (2021), Jeff Irwin (2021), and Doug and Carol Burk (2021).

The farthest distance traveled was from Texas to Columbus. The oldest veteran that participated in the show was 89 years old. He received the award from the oldest veteran in the Chosen Few Club who happens to be 90!

The top sponsor's award (a.k.a. Best of Show) went to Juli and Scott McKeever with a 2002 Corvette.

It was wonderful to see the Spring Fling All Corvette Show back in action after its two year absense. If you'd like to see more from the show, CLICK HERE.
Conkey Classic Car Show:
The second annual Conkey Classic Car Show was held Saturday at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hilliard, Ohio.
Lou, Judy and Dave Conkey were big into racing and car shows. All three passed away in 2020 after contracting Covid. The show raises money for the Conkey Memorial Foundation which assists persons with medical conditions and challenges.
This year the show registered 71 vehicles. Sean Krause with a 1971 Pontiac Tempest convertible received the Best of Show Award. Our good friends, Dale Pearce and Tom Stewart, received Top Ten awards.

Minerva Park Cruise-In for Operation Christmas Child:
On Sunday, the Columbus First FWB Church in Columbus hosted the Minerva Park Cruise-In for Operation Christmas Child. There was no registration fee for the cruise-in. Whatever dollar amount you wanted to donate to participate in the show was appreciated. The church also sold hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and drinks to help raise money for Operation Christmas Child. All told, a total of $322 was raised for the cause.
The cruise-in registered 22 cars. First, second, and third place awards were presented in three divisions, modern, classic, and antique. There was also a Fan Favorite Award voted on by those attending the show.

Central Ohio British Car Day:
I stopped by the Central Ohio British Car Day going on at Quaker Steak and Lube on my way home from the Minerva Park Cruise-In. The show registered approximately 140 cars. Here are some of the cars that attended the show.

Other Shows/Cruise-Ins:
- The Jax Wax Street Madness was canceled Saturday evening due to the weather
- The Carroll Lions Club Show in Carroll Ohio with the help of the C-Town Cruisers registered 70 plus cars on Saturday.
Mucho thanks goes out to my good friends Jeff Shankle, Dave Bratton, and Dale Pearce for their contribution to this week's report. I couldn't do it without them!
