NEWS AND NOTES
Der Dutchman Cruise-In:
The weather couldn’t have been better for Thursday evening’s cruise-in, and it showed—332 vehicles turned out, including 10 first-timers.

As always, something unique rolls in each week. This week it was a 22-foot Airstream Safari camper, a true family heirloom that’s been passed down for 70 years across five generations.

A few more rides from Thursday evening’s cruise-in:
Next week will feature two Der Dutchman Cruise-ins—the regular Thursday evening gathering and the always-popular annual Saturday morning Coffee and Donuts Cruise-in.
Only three more Thursday cruise-ins remain on the schedule—if you haven’t made it out yet, time is running out!
Richwood Bank Coffee and Cars Cruise-In:
The Richwood Bank in Delaware, Ohio, wrapped up its Coffee and Cars Cruise-In season on Saturday.

Around 20 cars came out for the finale, including a rarely seen AMC Eagle.

Door prizes this month featured a Schumacher 800 Amp Lithium-Ion Jump Starter and Power Pack, a bucket of car care products, and a bottle of Royal Crown Peach Flavored Whiskey paired with barbecue grill utensils.

The monthly Coffee and Cars Cruise-In, held on the first Saturday of each month, will return next May.
First Church of God Car Show:
The Bellefontaine First Church of God (BFCOG) hosted its 2nd Annual Car and Truck Show on Saturday, with all proceeds benefiting the church’s Hearts to Hands Food Pantry.

Roughly 80 vehicles filled the show field, where awards were handed out to the Top 25 entries along with the coveted Best of Show.

Among the Top 25 winners were (left to right) Doug Glassburn, Phil Spangler, Tim Hooten, Dave Bratton, Rick Carroll, and Russ Annis.

The Best of Show award went to Gene Evans for his stunning 1968 Shelby GT500 convertible — a car he has proudly owned since buying it brand new in 1968.

Here are more of the fantastic rides Jeff Shankle and Dave Bratton captured from the show.
Springdale Baptist Church Car Show:
The Springdale Baptist Church in Marysville hosted its 5th Annual Car Show on Saturday evening, marking its biggest event yet. More than 60 vehicles filled the lot, making it the largest turnout in the show’s history. The first 30 cars to register also received a commemorative coffee coaster.

Kevin’s Towing was a major supporter of this year’s show, bringing several pieces of its equipment for display and helping add to the atmosphere.

This year’s door prizes were also the most generous to date, with every registered entry receiving a ticket for giveaways ranging from car care products to gift cards—including a $100 Texas Roadhouse card.

On top of that, special raffles featured four Yeti cups engraved with the show’s logo, a 50/50 drawing, and the top prize—a pig raffle, where two winners each went home with half a hog.

To round out the evening, the church served pulled pork sandwiches, chips, desserts, and water, all available for a donation.

With record attendance, expanded prizes, and strong community support, this year’s Springdale Car Show closed as its most successful event to date.
Lite the Nite Car Show:
Downtown Newark, Ohio, came alive Saturday for the 40th Annual Lite the Nite Car Show, as 498 cars packed the streets for one of the area’s biggest summer traditions. Proceeds from the event go toward lighting the Licking County Courthouse during the holiday season, making the show as meaningful as it is fun.

Famous for its six-foot trophies, the show once again didn’t disappoint.

Congratulations to Dale Pearce, Jeff Tolley, Bubba Hettinger, Carrie Gleckler, and Dave O’Brien on taking home the towering hardware.

A huge thank-you goes out to Jim Sradeja and Robert “Bubba” Hettinger for sharing photos that let everyone enjoy some of the incredible rides from this year’s show in this video slideshow.
North Fork Fundraiser Car Show:
The first-ever North Fork Fundraiser Car Show was a resounding success, drawing 42 entries to Creekside Occasions in Chillicothe, Ohio. Hosted by We Are Ironside’s, a non-profit charitable group dedicated to helping the community and those in need. Proceeds went to benefit the hardworking staff of the North Fork Animal Clinic, still recovering after a devastating office fire. The event ran smoothly, with awards presented nearly an hour ahead of schedule.

Guests enjoyed a delicious fish fry and smashed burgers, plus raffles and door prizes throughout the day.
The club added a creative twist to the awards, with the Top 50 trophies carrying pet-inspired names like Top Dog, Feline Fine, Whiskered Wonder, and Paw-some Paint Job.

Among the award winners, Doug Glassburn received the Top Dog Award for his 1972 Chevy C-10, while Tim Hootentook home the Whiskered Wonder Award with his 1973 Chevy Nova SS, and Phil Spangler earned the Paw-some Paint Job Award with his 1956 Ford Thunderbird.

One highlight came when Phil Spangler won the gun raffle and generously donated it back, allowing it to be auctioned off for even more funds for the cause.
The Best of Show trophy went to a beautifully restored ’35 Chevy pickup with a ’36 cab, shown off under perfect skies.

Doug Glassburn was kind enough to share some great photos from the show, capturing the cars and community spirit of the day.
Corvette Gathering XX:
I knew one of the events I’d really miss after selling my Corvette was the annual Corvette Gathering in downtown Lancaster, Ohio. Hosted by the Ohio Corvette Club Alliance, it’s always been one of my favorites—a BIG all-Corvette cruise-in right in the heart of the city.
This year marked the 20th Annual event, and thanks to Dave Bratton, I still got a glimpse of it through his photos. While he didn’t have an exact count, every parking spot was full, so he estimated close to 500 Corvettes in attendance. Dave made sure to capture some of the more interesting Corvettes and parts on display, including a 1993 model with just 9,100 miles—fewer miles than his own 2021 Corvette!
And because no good event is complete without good food, Dave also sent along a shot of a tasty ham and cheese croissant he picked up from one of the many open shops and restaurants that make the Gathering such a fun day all around.
That’s it for News and Notes this week! I’ll leave you with a few shots of the cool rides that stopped by the Heart of Ohio Antique Center’s monthly cruise-in on Sunday. Big thanks to Martin Ruiz for capturing and sharing the photos.
Contributors this week include Dale Pearce, Jeff Shankle, Robert "Bubba" Hettinger, Doug Glassburn, Dave Bratton, Russ Annis, Marty Ruiz, and Jim Sradeja. A big thank you to each of them for their contributions!
Stay safe, stay cool, and keep those wheels rolling!
