NEWS AND NOTES

Der Dutchman Cruise-In:

For the second week in a row, the Thursday forecast completely missed the mark. On Tuesday, the outlook promised sunshine and temperatures in the 70s. The prediction looked so good that Wayne Nisely, who manages the cruise-in, sent out an email early in the week touting the “perfect” weather and even reserving a prize for the 500th car to attend.

But the day had other plans. Rain and blustery winds rolled in around 1 PM Thursday and didn’t let up until after 4 PM—so much for 500 cars. Even so, 113 cruisers still made the trip, including five first-timers who stopped by despite the soggy conditions.

Honda Marysville Motorsports August Bike & Car Night:

Honda Marysville Motorsports hosted its August Bike & Car Night on Friday evening, once again treating attendees to delicious food and refreshments from the Triple P Barbecue food truck.

This month’s raffle saw three lucky winners take home prizes, including two mystery totes and a brand-new Honda push mower. Our friend Nick Mathews was one of the winners, scoring a tote packed with a motorcycle helmet, jacket, pants, and gloves—gear worth several hundred dollars!

It was the perfect mix of great weather, tasty food, and plenty of horsepower to cap off another fantastic evening at Honda Marysville Motorsports.

Zucchinifest Car & Motorcycle Show:

The Zucchinifest Car and Motorcycle Show rolled into Fortress Obetz on Friday evening, drawing a strong turnout of enthusiasts and spectators alike. A total of 214 cars and motorcycles filled the show field, showcasing everything from classic muscle and custom builds to modern performance machines.

Two standout awards highlighted the night’s competition. Dale Pearce earned Best Corvette honors with his beautifully presented 1967 Stingray, while Jeff Ward took home the prestigious Honor Flight Pick for his sharp 2002 lowered S-10 pickup.

Ryan Gebhart's 1971 Chevy Chevelle received the Best of Show honors.

Bryan Mauger captured some of the fantastic rides on display, giving participants and fans alike a lasting glimpse of the show’s highlights.

With a diverse lineup, great weather, and a festive atmosphere, the Zucchinifest show once again proved to be a crowd favorite and a highlight of the late-summer car season.

Delaware Christian Church Car, Truck, & Motorcycle Show:

The Delaware Christian Church hosted its 5th annual Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show on Saturday, bringing together a great mix of classic cruisers, modern rides, and motorcycles. Registration was by donation, and the event welcomed 58 vehicles.

Awards were a highlight of the afternoon, with trophies going to the Top 15 vehicles along with eight specialty categories, including:

  • Most Likely to Break Down on the Way Home
  • Best Engine Bay
  • Is It Street Legal?
  • Oldest Car
  • Longest Haul
  • Top Cycle
  • Sponsor’s Choice
  • Pastor’s Choice

Adding a special touch, the students of Delaware Christian School voted for the award winners, giving the younger generation an active role in celebrating the cars and motorcycles on display.

The day was filled with activities for all ages, including door prizes, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle. The church also offered food and refreshments for a donation, while the Ohio State vs. Texas football game played on a large screen monitor inside the activities building, giving fans a chance to enjoy both cars and college football.

Here are the cars that received the Specialty Awards:

The Delaware Christian Church once again hosted a well-attended show that combined community, fellowship, and cars.

Flywheels Car Show:

The Flywheels Car Club of Marion hosted its 5th Annual Labor Day Car Show on Saturday at Prospect Park in Prospect, Ohio.

This year’s event drew an impressive turnout, with 242 cars registered. Awards were presented to the Top 50 entries, along with two special honors. The first was the “Repeat Offender” award, given to a car that looks like it could get pulled over more than once because of its speed. The second, brought by a sister club from Texas, was the “Just Because It’s Cool” award.

The show continues to earn strong reviews from participants. Here’s what Chris Kraner had to say about the event:

Hey just wanted to drop a note. I ventured to the Flywheels of Marion show today at Prospect Park in Prospect Ohio. While I didn't grab any pictures - what a great show. They had 242 cars registered (down from the normal 300 - likely due to some game in Columbus being played). It was a great venue, relaxed, plenty of parking either along the park road under the trees, or out in the field if you so desired. Well organized, a DJ playing a good mix of tunes and not overly loud, 8 - $50 gas cards given out to those that registered a car ($10 registration), door prizes, a 50/50, Silent auction and Top 50 awards given out. There was plenty of food and drink options from various vendors, other trinket type vendors there, a playground/play area for the kiddos and indoor restrooms that were open as part of the park. Wanted to share - if you wanted to do a little blurb. I know there were a lot of shows, but this is a bit of a hidden gem. It was a nice relaxing day with awards being prompt and all give aways wrapped up in about 30 minutes.

Dave Bratton also shared his thoughts, along with a set of photos he captured at the show:

This is one of my favorite shows of the year. The setting is great. The club knows what they are doing and they have lots of trophies. There were 4 or 5 food trucks where we got the best sandwich we've had all year. We saw lots of people we know including some we haven't seen all year. They registered 242 cars. They give away top 50 plus two specials. There is no BOS. The "Repeat Offender" award went to Walter Montgomery for his 88 Toyota truck. A special award came from a sister club in Texas
called "Just because it's Cool" and went to Dennis Mitchel for his 65 Mustang.

Home Town Heroes Car Show:

The Hometown Heroes Car Show was held in downtown Mechanicsburg on Saturday, drawing 134 entries to support the Mechanicsburg Police and Fire Associations. Sponsored by Our Towne Mechanicsburg, the event featured more than 60 trophies, food, raffle prizes, and strong community participation.

Award highlights included Terry Bach, who received Best Ford, and Kevin Foust, who earned Best Truck for his 1941 Dodge WC 40 Weapons Carrier. Glen Frisby was recognized with both a Top 40 Award and the People’s Choice Award. The top honor of the day, Best of Show, was presented to a 1971 Barracuda equipped with a Hellcat engine.

A video slideshow created from photos by Jeff Shankle and Kevin Foust captured many of the great rides that attended the show, providing a lasting look back at a successful event that benefited the community.

Rich Street Roar:

Touted as Columbus’s premier downtown auto show, the 3rd Annual Rich Street Roar took place on Sunday, once again serving as a fundraiser for the Columbus Police Foundation.

Dale Pearce and I opted for the Diamond membership, which made the experience even more memorable. Diamond participants gathered at the Columbus Police Academy on N. Hague Road for a professional photo session with their cars.

At 11 a.m., the group lined up for a police-escorted cruise through downtown Columbus, arriving at the show where their vehicles were displayed along Washington Boulevard and the Rich Street Bridge. The Diamond package also included a commemorative t-shirt, lunch in the exclusive Diamond Lounge, and even a private DJ.

The event itself brought together multiple food trucks, auto-related vendors, and hundreds of spectators. Estimates suggest around 300 cars registered this year, making it one of the strongest turnouts yet. Enthusiasm ran so high that Diamond registration had to close early on Saturday.

To capture the energy and excitement, this slideshow video offers a glimpse into the atmosphere of this year’s Rich Street Roar.

With this year’s strong turnout and enthusiastic community support, the Rich Street Roar further solidified its reputation as Columbus’s premier downtown auto show.

Dublin AM Rotary Classic Car Show:

The Historic Dublin Business District once again hosted the 7th Annual Dublin AM Rotary Classic Car Show, drawing 116 registered vehicles that filled the streets with both timeless classics and modern horsepower. Awards were presented to the Top 30 entries along with special recognitions and the coveted Best in Show.

Among the highlights, Mike Lowe earned the Pete Fuhlbrigge Memorial Award with his K-5 Blazer, while Doug Glassburn’s 1972 Chevy C-10 pickup received the Favorite Veterans Vehicle Award. Orange proved to be the color of the day.

The top honor went to Bryan Mauger, whose 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo claimed Best in Show—adding to a strong August that has already brought him multiple top awards.

Here’s a happy trio of cruisers heading home with some well-earned hardware.

Check out more of the standout rides, from vintage cruisers to late-model muscle, that made this year’s show another success in Historic Dublin.

Daryl Ingram Memorial Car Show:

The Milford Center Darby Bash Festival hosted the annual Daryl Ingram Memorial Car Show on Sunday, drawing 77 registered vehicles to the heart of downtown. The event blended a celebration of automotive heritage with a tribute to a man who left a lasting impact on his community.

Daryl L. Ingram, who passed away in 2024 at the age of 75, was a longtime Milford Center resident and funeral director who, together with his family, faithfully served the community for nearly five decades through Ingram Funeral Home. Known for his kindness, humor, and civic involvement, Ingram was also remembered for his love of classic cars—particularly the Ford Torino, a model he once owned himself. The memorial car show held in his honor has become a centerpiece of the Darby Bash Festival, reflecting both his personal passions and his enduring community legacy.

This year’s awards included five trophies and a special memorial plaque. The plaque, chosen by Ingram’s daughter, was presented to Chris Kraner for his 1970 Ford Torino GT.

The People’s Choice Award went to Dean Maisenbacher for his 1959 Ford retractable.

Competitive honors were awarded to Ned Bailey, third place with a 1955 Chevy; Will Thrill, second place with a 1986 S10 truck; and Doug Mason, first place with a 1973 Road Runner.

Thanks to Dave Bratton and Jeff Shankle, here's a look as some of the other rides that participated in the show.

Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival Car/Truck/Bike Show:

Shaun “Big Dawg” Sanders and the C-Town Cruisers returned to Canal Winchester, Ohio, on Sunday to help host the annual Labor Day Festival Car, Truck, and Bike Show. This year’s event saw an impressive 203 vehicles registered.

Rod Scott earned the Best Truck Award with his 1958 Dodge D-100 Sweptside pickup, while Donny Owens took home the Best of Show honor for his 1955 Chevy 210.

StockHouse Labor Day Car Show:

The StockHouse Bar & Grill in Woodstock, Ohio, hosted its inaugural Labor Day Car Show on Monday.

The first-time event drew 48 registered vehicles. With no registration fee, the event attracted a diverse mix of rides and offered 10 awards, including Best Motorcycle, Best Motor, Best Lifted Truck, Best Chevy 210, Best Vintage Truck, People’s Choice, Best Old School, Best Rust Bucket, Best New School, and Best in Show.

Attendees enjoyed door prizes and a 50/50 raffle, while live music from Dan Herriott provided country, blues, and acoustic rock originals throughout the day.

No motorcycles or Chevy 210s registered, so here are the vehicles that received an award.

The Best In Show Award went to Jay Kennard with a 1955 Chevy Bel Air.

The inaugural show delivered a fun, welcoming atmosphere, combining great vehicles, community spirit, and memorable entertainment for both participants and spectators.

American Legion Canteen Post #144 Labor Day Car Show:

The C-Town Cruisers made the trip from Canal Winchester on Sunday to the American Legion Canteen Post #144 on South High Street in Columbus to host the annual Labor Day Car Show.

By the end of the day, the “official” count stood at 86 registered cars and trucks. Along with the vehicle awards, Shaun was surprised with a special recognition for his contributions to the Central Ohio car community.

The coveted Best of Show Award went to Craig Wyatt for his beautiful 1960 AMC Rambler.

A special thanks goes out to Jim Sradeja and Rod Scott for sharing the photos they captured during the show.

Pap's Rod Show Labor Day Bash:

The third Central Ohio Labor Day car show on Monday took place at Evans Family Ranch in New Carlisle, Ohio, where Pap’s Rod Shop hosted its 5th Annual Labor Day Bash.

Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the event brought in an impressive turnout with 420 cars registered, making it the largest Central Ohio car event of the weekend. For a $15 entry fee, participants were treated to a full day of activities including a 50/50 drawing, raffles, a driver’s pot, and a charity auction benefiting Pink Ribbon Good. The 50/50 also supported Save A Warrior.

Awards were presented at 4 p.m., with the Top 75 and specialty trophies handed out to standout rides. Alongside the cars, visitors enjoyed vendors and the festive atmosphere that has made this show a growing Labor Day tradition in the region.

With its mix of cool rides, community support, and charity fundraising, Pap’s Labor Day Bash once again delivered a memorable celebration for both car enthusiasts and families alike. And to top it off, here’s a video slideshow of the show, courtesy of Jeff Shankle’s five sets of photos posted to Facebook.

After the rain on Thursday, the weekend brought some of the best weather I can remember for this time of year. All in all, this holiday weekend was one for the books. With 13 different shows covered in this report, it was a challenge to piece everything together—but also a great reminder of just how strong and supportive the Central Ohio car community is. Thanks again to everyone who shared photos, updates, and info. I truly couldn’t do it without you!
