NEWS AND NOTES
Last week’s remarks about the Import Face-Off and next generation of car enthusiasts sparked some great feedback from readers. One of my goals with carshowtalk.com has always been to create a place where people can actually talk about—and appreciate—the Central Ohio car scene.
That said, one comment I saw stood out for all the wrong reasons. Someone mentioned they were tired of seeing newer cars and “common traffic,” and only wanted to see vehicles from the 1900s. Ugh!
Car culture isn’t meant to be exclusive. Whether it’s a classic muscle car, a modern performance build, or something you’d normally see on your daily commute—if someone is proud enough to bring it out and share it, it belongs. Variety is exactly what keeps the scene alive and well.
Horsepower Farms Cars 'n Condos:
Even with temperatures in the mid-30s on Saturday morning, the second Horsepower Farms Car ’n Condos event of the season still drew another strong turnout.
By 9 AM, donuts and coffee were ready to greet the crowd—always a nice touch on a cold morning.

For me, the highlights were the lineup of Morgan Motor Company vehicles and the Rothman's Racing condo. Both stood out and gave the event a little extra character beyond just the cars themselves.

Here’s a look at some of the other cars that braved the chilly morning.
Mint Condition Car Show:
The Mint Condition Car Show, hosted by the Mint Condition Car Club, took place Saturday on the east side of Columbus.
Around 40 cars were registered. Congratulations to Jim McGruder, Dale Pearce, and Rod Scott who all received Top 25 awards for their rides. Doug Glassburn’s ’72 Chevy Stepside earned the Best Old School Award.

Tony Chavez took home the 6 ft Best of Show trophy with his 2007 Dodge Magnum.

Here are a few more rides from the show.
Derby Day Cruise-In:
Eldorado Scioto Downs made for a unique venue for the 2nd Annual Derby Day Cruise-In. About 70 cars lined up on the track in front of the clubhouse for diners and casino guests to check out. Bryan Mauger captured some of the cars from the cruise-in and even put together a short video of the lineup.
Huber Automotive Spring Cruise-In:
Speaking of unique venues, Huber Automotive drew an excellent turnout Saturday evening for its spring cruise-in at the Licking County Regional Airport. The cold weather didn’t seem to slow things down, and Bubba Hettinger was kind enough to share his photos from the evening.
Toy Barn Spring Car Show:
The Toy Barn once again drew a huge turnout of cars and spectators for its Spring Car Show on Sunday, despite early morning temperatures in the upper 30s.

I’m always impressed by the size of the crowds that come through during the show. The number of registered participants again required using both dealership lots to park participants cars.

Variety is a given at a Toy Barn show—from domestic muscle to European performance models to outright exotics—and Sunday was no exception. Multiple food trucks were on site, and a DJ kept things lively all morning.
Here’s a video slideshow combining photos from the morning taken by Jeff Shankle and myself.
One new twist this year: once parked, you were in for the duration unless you let staff know in advance so they could place you in an early-exit area.
Another successful show in the books at The Toy Barn!
Paul Raduege Memorial Car Show:
Hosted by the Lancaster Car Scene (LCS) and Trident Customs, the 4th Annual Paul Raduege Memorial Car Show took place Sunday at Outerbelt Brewing in Carroll, Ohio.

Lynn's Choice this year went to Anthony Musick's Camaro.

This 2008 Jeep Wrangler received the Best Jeep Award.

Best Truck went to Doug Glassburn and his 1972 Chevy C10 Stepside pickup—he and that truck have been on a roll the past three weekends.

Randy Turner’s beautiful 1959 Chevy Impala earned Best of Show.

Compliments of Doug Glassburn, here are the other rides from Sunday’s show.
Martinsburg Car Show:
More than 100 cars attended the Martinsburg Car Show on Sunday, hosted by the Rod Master Car Club.
Gerald Wicker and Jeff Tolley both earned Top 50 awards for their rides, with Jeff also taking home the 50/50 raffle—he sent me a “Ha Ha” emoji when I asked him when we were going to dinner. Can you believe that! 😎
Best of Show honors went to Steve Kidwell and Nancy’s 1965 Pontiac GTO.

Enjoy these photos from Jeff Tolley.
Other Area Shows:
- The Circleville First Church show drew a solid turnout Sunday with 102 cars. Some attendees felt the judging was a bit inconsistent, as several standout builds went home empty-handed. There was also a perception that those affiliated with the church may have had an edge.
- Forty-four cars turned out for the Heart of Ohio Antique Center Cruise-in. The next cruise-in will be Sunday May 31st instead of the first Sunday in June.
- From the photos I saw on Facebook, the Slammedenuff Ohio Car Show had a solid turnout at the Ohio Expo Center on Sunday.
- Mark Garrett and Richard Rambo took home Top 35 trophies at The Point on Main Car Show hosted by the C-Town Cruisers.

Another week, another reminder of just how active and diverse the Central Ohio car scene is. From chilly morning starts to packed lots by mid-day, enthusiasts showed up and made the most of it this past week.
As always, thanks to everyone who shared photos, results, and feedback—it’s what helps keep carshowtalk.com current and connected to what’s really happening on the ground. This week's list includes Jeff Shankle, Doug Glassburn, Jeff Tolley, Gerald Wicker, Bryan Mauger, Bubba Hettinger, Lynn Raduege, Dale Pearce, and Mark Garrett.
Have a great week, stay safe and keep those wheels rolling.
