NEWS AND NOTES

Der Dutchman Cruise-In:

The Der Dutchman Cruise-In in Plain City, Ohio seems to follow a pattern of occurring every other week this year. Last week, the cruise-in was canceled due to wet fields and cold temperatures. This week, the weather was just about perfect. As a result, the cruise-in attracted 295 cars, 22 of which were first-time participants.

The unique and unusual car of the evening was a “tubbed” Mercedes-Benz with a small-block Chevy engine — not many of those around.

Someone brought an Opel GT to the cruise-in. For me, it brought back lots of memories, as the best man at my wedding drove a gold Opel GT.

Here a a few more cars from Thursday evening:

Dog Face K9s Car, Truck, & Bike Show:

Presented by Zenith Kustoms, the 2nd Annual Dog Face K9s Car, Truck, and Bike Show rolled into town on Saturday at Quaker Steak and Lube on Polaris Parkway in Columbus, Ohio.

Proceeds from the show benefited Dog Face K9s, a nonprofit organization dedicated to pairing rescued dogs with veterans and first responders as service animals.

A total of 95 cars registered for the show, with another dozen or so in attendance that did not register.

There were door prizes, gift bags, and a 50/50 raffle. The door prizes included an Ohio State National Championship shirt signed by 14 of the players and an electric guitar.

At the end of the show, awards were presented to the Top 30 cars along with 15 custom awards and a Best of Show.

Here are the custom award winners (the bike and rod picks are missing):

Best of Show went to Neil and Janice Thomas and their 1960 Chrysler 300 F.

Boy Scout Troop 382 Central Ohio Cruise-In:

On Saturday, Boy Scout Troop 382 of Centerburg, Ohio, hosted its annual Central Ohio Cruise-In at Centerburg High School. The event ran from 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and serves as one of the troop’s major fundraisers. Proceeds support Troop activities such as summer camp fees, monthly outings, and community service projects.

Saturday’s event saw a fantastic turnout with 92 vehicles registered! Awards were selected by the scouts, including Top 10 honors and a Best of Show.

A special thank you to Doug Glassburn for generously sharing the photos he captured at the show.

FBC Customs & Classic Car Show:

The FBC Customs & Classics Car Show took place on Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Grove City, Ohio.

Organized in collaboration with Auto Smarts Radio and presented by Germain Honda of Dublin, Dan “Boots” Longenette served as master of ceremonies.

Proceeds from the show help support veterans on Honor Flight.

The show had an excellent turnout, with 132 vehicles in attendance. The awards included a combination of trophies and WS-1939 portable Bluetooth music car speakers, designed to resemble classic cars.

Tom and Betty Lawrence received the Motts Military Museum Pick for their 2008 Volkswagen Beetle.

Dale Pearce's 1967 Corvette Stingray was honored with the Brian Kennett Memorial Award.

Special thanks to Tom Lawrence for this video slideshow created from the photos he took at the FBC show.

Paul Raduege Memorial Car Show:

The 3rd Annual Paul Raduege Car Show took place on Sunday at Outerbelt Brewing in Carroll, Ohio.

Paul Raduege was a well-known figure in the Central Ohio car enthusiast community. He and his wife, Lynn, were active participants in car shows and events throughout the region. Paul’s contributions to the car scene were significant enough that a memorial car show, organized by Lancaster Car Scene, LLC, is held each year in his honor.

This year, the show had 49 cars in attendance. Miss Ohio even made an appearance.

There were awards for the Top 30, along with Best Muscle, Best Truck, Best Bike, Best Import, Lynn’s Choice, and of course, Best in Show. No bike was registered, so that award will have to wait until next year.

The Old Goats Car Club received the LCS Battle of the Clubs Award with six cars in attendance.

Lynn’s Choice (Paul Raduege Trophy) was awarded to Bryan Culp for his 1983 Oldsmobile Hurst.

Shawn Freels and his 1942 Chevy Special Deluxe were selected as Best of Show.

Here is a selection of cars and a dog from the show:

That wraps up this week’s edition of News and Notes! As always, thanks for tuning in and supporting the local car scene.

Special thanks to Dale Pearce, Dave Bratton, Tom Lawrence, Doug Glassburn, and Lynn Raduege for contributing their photos and write-ups for this report.

Until next week, drive safe and stay passionate.

How does one get their car show listed in your email notifications? This is our third year doing the Breaking The Stigma Charity Car Show in Painesville Township Ohio. I'd be interested into getting some additional exposure for our event.

      Hello Josh,

Is your location up by Lake Erie? If so, our coverage area does not extend north of Marion, Ohio. This geographic focus allows us to provide accurate, timely, and comprehensive information for car enthusiasts within our core region. While we recognize there are many great events north of Marion, expanding beyond our current area would stretch our resources and potentially reduce the quality of coverage we strive to maintain.

We appreciate your understanding and support.

We wish you well with your event in Painesville Township Ohio. You are located well outside the area and scope of this newsletter. The focus of Car and Bike Events listed here is Central Ohio.
