NEWS AND NOTES
Der Dutchman Cruise-In:
The Der Dutchman Cruise-In in Plain City, Ohio, continues to impress, and this week was no exception. A total of 425 vehicles rolled into the lot, filling the summer evening with horsepower, chrome, and camaraderie.

There was even a touch of royalty to the evening’s festivities.

Each week brings something different, and this time, the spotlight was on a Mustang race car with an LS3 small block motor — a bold and unexpected powertrain swap that had enthusiasts gathering for a closer look.

The lot was filled with a stunning variety of hot rods, muscle cars, classics, and custom builds. Here are just a few more of the vehicles that made the scene:
American Legion Canteen Post #144 Independence Day Car Show:
Shaun “Big Dawg” Sanders and the C-Town Cruisers hosted their annual Independence Day Car Show on Friday at the American Legion Canteen Post #144 in Columbus, Ohio.

Despite the summer heat, 59 vehicles were registered for the show, with participants spreading out across the grounds in search of shade. The event featured door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and a festive Independence Day buffet. The buffet, held inside the American Legion Post, was donation-based and well-received by attendees.

As the show wrapped up, awards were handed out to the Top 40 vehicles, along with special honors for Most Patriotic and Best of Show.

Most Patriotic Award: Kevin Johna took home the honors with his beautifully airbrushed 2015 Chevy Camaro.

Best of Show: The coveted award went to Judy and Jack for their stunning 1957 Chevy Bel Air.

Finishing up, here are the rest of the cars that showed up, even with the heat cranked up.
Firecracker Car, Truck, and Bike Show:
The Champaign Cruisers hosted their 27th Annual 4th of July Firecracker Car, Truck, and Bike Show at Skelley Lumber Company in Urbana, Ohio.
This long-running show keeps bringing in cars from all over the region—southwestern and western Ohio, eastern Indiana, and, of course, Central Ohio. It’s always fun to see vehicles you don’t normally catch at local shows, including rare builds and unique restorations from outside the immediate area.
Participants and spectators enjoyed a wide variety of activities throughout the day, including door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, a driver’s pot, and a great selection of food trucks.
This year’s show saw an impressive turnout, with over 600 registered vehicles and a total of 733 in attendance—making it one of the largest, if not the largest, in the event’s history.
Jeff Shankle and Jim Sradega were kind enough to share their photos from the show—Jeff alone snapped over 800 photos! Here’s a video slideshow highlighting many of the awesome cars that turned out for the event.
The judges selected Steve Bechtel’s beautifully restored, all-steel 1941 Lincoln Zephyr as this year’s Best of Show. Notably, the all-steel body was a rare feature for cars built during that era, making this Lincoln Zephyr an exceptional and historically significant vehicle.

Stockhands Horses for Healing Car Show:
With support from the Delaware Knights Car Club, the 4th Annual Stockhands Horses for Healing Car Show was held on Saturday at the Artomotive facility in Radnor, Ohio.

Stockhands Horses for Healing is a non-profit organization based in Delaware, Ohio, dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with physical, emotional, and developmental challenges through equine-assisted therapy. The program offers a supportive, inclusive environment where participants—ranging from veterans and individuals with disabilities to trauma survivors and at-risk youth—can gain confidence, build relationships, and develop valuable life skills through their work with horses.
Due to ongoing construction at the Delaware facility on Olentangy River Road, this year’s car show was relocated to the Artomotive site in Radnor. It was also announced that the 2026 show will return to the same Artomotive location.
This year’s event drew approximately 160 vehicles. Registration was donation-based, with all proceeds benefiting Stockhands. Attendees enjoyed food available for purchase, a variety of raffle prizes, and a 50/50 drawing.
Awards included trophies for the Top 50 vehicles, along with 10 Specialty Awards, three Motorcycle Awards, a Kids Pick, and the coveted Artomotive Choice (aka Best of Show).

Here are the Specialty and Bike Award winners:
Congratulations to Bryan Mauger and Dean Maisenbacher, who each took home a Top 50 Award—Bryan for his 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo and Dean for his beautifully preserved 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Retractable.

Dennis and Teresa Mitchell’s stunning 1965 Ford Mustang made a big impression, earning both the Pony Car Award and the Artomotive Pick—also known as Best of Show.

Here are more cars (and horses) from the Stockhands show.
The only downside to the show was how long it took to raffle off the door prizes—well over an hour. There were multiple people with identical ticket numbers, which meant having to do a second drawing each time to determine a winner. That dragged things out. Not the best setup when you’re standing on hot asphalt in 100-degree heat.
Box 65 Car and Motorcycle Show:
The 2nd Annual Box 65 Car & Motorcycle Show was held Saturday in Stoutsville, Ohio.
There were 86 cars in attendance at the show. Awards were given to the Top 40 vehicles—split evenly between 20 awards for 1979 and older, and 20 for 1980 and newer. Additional honors included Chief’s Choice, Participants’ Choice, and Best of Show.
Jim Holland took home the Participants’ Choice award with his sharp 1934 Ford Coupe.

Chief’s Choice went to Dave and Jackie Rolfe-Hiles for their beautifully restored 1962 Dodge D100 pickup.

Thanks to Carl Myers, here are a few more photos from the show.

Carl Dill’s 1934 Chevy won Best of Show (see photo above).
Millersport Bi-Centennial Car Show and Festival:
The Sweet Corn Festival Grounds played host to the Millersport, Ohio, Bi-Centennial Car Show and Festival on Saturday. Founded in 1825, the event marked the 200th birthday of the Village of Millersport.
The car show registered 59 vehicles and presented over 35 awards. Jeff Tolley’s 1959 Chevy Biscayne, Doug Glassburn’s 1982 Chevy C-10, Dale Pearce’s Chevy 3600 pickup, and John Huber’s Ford Mustang (not pictured) all received Top Choice Awards.

Rod Scott's 1958 Dodge D100 Sweptside received the Mayor's Choice Award.

Nic Palmer Memorial Car Show:
The parking lot outside Fortress Obetz in Obetz, Ohio, was the site of the first annual Nic Palmer Memorial Car Show.

Held in memory of Nic Palmer, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident in 2023, the event was created to honor his legacy and bring the community together in his name.
There were door prizes and a 50/50 raffle, and attendees could satisfy their hunger with individual pepperoni pizzas provided by Donatos.
This was a judged show featuring seven award plaques: Best Bike, Best Truck, Best Classic, Best Import, Best Lady Driven, Best Domestic, and Best of Show.

Here are the vehicles that received awards.
The Best of Show Award went to Joel Roberts with a 2010 Shelby GT500.

For a first-time show, things went quite well overall. The only hiccup came during the award presentation, as tallying the judging sheets took a bit longer than expected. With seven awards to hand out, the delay meant some time spent standing in the sun, which was a little uncomfortable. The Palmer family was very understanding and has already acknowledged the issue, with plans to streamline the process for next year. They’re also hoping to move the show inside Fortress Obetz, which should make things even better for everyone.
Junction City Independence Day Celebration Car Show:
Junction City, Ohio, came alive on Sunday for its annual Independence Day Celebration and Car Show. This all-day event offered something for everyone—starting with a patriotic parade in the morning and wrapping up with a stunning fireworks display in the evening.
The heart of the afternoon featured the community’s popular car show, drawing enthusiasts from across the area to showcase classic rides, custom builds, and hometown favorites.

Other Area Shows:
- The C-Town Cruisers returned to The Point on Main Sports Bar and Grill on Sunday for their July show, drawing 60 vehicles to the lot. It was a special day for David Dipietro, who earned his first-ever car show award by taking home the MOPO/Rat Rod trophy. The Hi-Starz also had a strong showing, picking up some hardware as a group.

- The Delaware Area Vintage Motorcycle and Coffee meetup at Coastline Coffee in Delaware, Ohio, saw a better-than-expected turnout on Sunday for their weekly gathering.
