NEWS AND NOTES
Der Dutchman Cruise-In:
Despite zero rain, attendance dipped slightly at Thursday evening’s cruise-in, with 170 cars in attendance. Mid-summer vacations and a touch of car show fatigue are starting to show—something that typically happens around this time of year.
Arthritis Foundation Charity Auto Show:
The Arthritis Foundation hosted its 42nd Annual Charity Auto Show this past weekend at the Metro Center in Dublin, Ohio.
Festivities began Thursday with a scenic tour, as 45 participants took the back roads through the Ohio countryside to Indian Lake. There, the group visited what is believed to be the largest private collection of classic wooden boats in the country.
The drive continued around the lake to the Tilton Hilton, a rustic spot famous for its quirky interior and hearty half-pound burgers. The day wrapped up with high-speed fun at K1 Speed in Hilliard, where 40 attendees hit the kart track, followed by evening drinks at the Roosevelt Room in Dublin.

Big thanks to Dave Bratton for providing the great photos and detailed description of the tour. His contribution helped capture the spirit of the drive and the unique stops along the way.
Arthritis Foundation Charity Auto Show Friday Cruise-In:
Intermittent light showers throughout the day dampened Friday’s Cruise-in at the Arthritis Foundation Charity Auto Show. Fortunately, the rain cleared by 5 PM—just in time for the opening set from The British Invasion band.

Friday’s Cruise-in drew approximately 250 cars. This video slideshow, featuring photos taken by Jeff Shankle and me, highlights some of the beautiful rides that were on display.
They started handing out the 100 six-foot trophies around 7:30 PM. Here are some local winners I was able to catch on camera.
Dale Pearce found out just how handy a convertible can be when it came time to haul home his six-foot trophy.

Arthritis Foundation Charity Concours Auto Show:
Saturday’s Arthritis Foundation Charity Auto Show was all about class judging and awards, with 480 cars registered for the concours-style judging.
A few local standouts:
- Mick Crawford and Dustin Bowers picked up Awards of Excellence in their respective Mustang classes.

1990 Form Mustang LX (Fox Body)

2008 Ford Mustang
- Arch Mayer’s 1997 Mustang Cobra took home 1st Place in its class.

- Dale Pearce earned an Award of Excellence for his beautiful 1967 Corvette.

- Bryan Mauger’s 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo grabbed 1st Place in the Stock Production 1966–1989 class.

Congratulations to all the outstanding vehicles recognized with awards on Friday and Saturday at this year’s Arthritis Foundation Charity Auto Show.
Cruisin with the King Car Show:
The weather didn’t do Saturday evening’s Cruisin with the King Car Show at the Burger King in Marysville, Ohio, any favors. A large band of showers rolled through the area starting around 6 PM. I stayed for about an hour before heading home, trying to beat the rain. I made it to I-270 and Sawmill Road just as the skies opened up.

Roughly 25 cars were on-site while I was there, but that number dropped to about 17 die-hard cruisers once the rain began. I wasn't one of them.
One of those die-hards was our good friend, Jeff Tolley, who braved the weather and was rewarded with one of the event’s “Favorite 15” award plaques.

Hopefully, the weather will be better for the August show.
Plumwood C.C.C.U. (Charles Brewer Memorial) Car Show:
The 16th Annual Plumwood C.C.C.U. (Churches of Christ in Christian Union) Car Show was held Saturday in London, Ohio. The event is held in memory of Charles “Chuck” W. Brewer, a beloved community member and car enthusiast who passed away in 2024.
This year’s show featured 38 registered vehicles, with free entry for all participants. Among the winners, Tom and Betty Lawrence received a Top 20 award for their 2008 Volkswagen Beetle.

Here are more cars from the show.
Other Area Shows:
- The LeaveAMark Church in Columbus, Ohio hosted a car and motorcycle show Friday evening. The show had 35 cars and 6 motorcycles in attendance. Jeff Ward's 2002 Chevy S-10 Lowrider received the Best Truck Award.

- Phil Spangler and Tim Hooten made the trip to Greenfield, Ohio, on Saturday for the 57th Annual Greenfield Car and Truck Show. Around 100 cars turned out for the event, and both Phil and Tim walked away with Top 50 awards.

- After spending Sunday morning at Cars & Coffee on the Square in Newark, Ohio, the Hi-Way Starz crew cruised over to Bladensburg for the town’s annual car show. The trip was well worth it—every member of the group returned home with an award.

That’s a wrap for this week’s Car Show Talk News & Notes! Whether you dodged rain, brought home some hardware, or just enjoyed a good cruise, thanks for being part of the local car scene.
This week’s News and Notes contributors include Dale Pearce, Jeff Shankle, Dave Bratton, Robert Hettinger, Arch Mayer, Tom Lawrence, Bryan Mauger, Phil Spangler, Tim Hooten, and Jeff Tolley. A big thank you to each of them for their contributions!
Stay safe, stay cool, and keep those wheels rolling!
