NEWS AND NOTES
Der Dutchman Cruise-In:
This week, it wasn’t the hot and humid temperatures that kept people home — it was the chance of rain showers. Still, attendance reached 110 cars, including six first-timers. Wayne decided not to have food, anticipating a lower turnout due to the forecast.

A quiet field under moody skies — the forecast kept the chrome at home this week.
Hosanna Church Car Show:
The Hosanna Church in Pataskala, Ohio held its 12th Annual Car Show on Friday evening, drawing a strong crowd and 135 registered vehicles.
Thanks to near-perfect weather, many participants arrived early, and the parking lot was nearly full by the official 4 PM registration start. (In fact, due to the early turnout, the church began registration around 3 PM to accommodate the influx.)
Cruisers and spectators enjoyed food and refreshments from Poppy’s Roadside Diner and Whit’s Frozen Custard. Registered participants received a door prize ticket, and many took part in the 50/50 raffle. Awards included Favorite Awards, Top Choice, Best of the Decade, People’s Choice, and Best of Show.

All proceeds benefited Hosanna’s Do Something Team, which supports individuals and families in need throughout Pataskala and West Licking County.
Here are the best of the Decade winners:
The People’s Choice Award went to a beautifully restored 1967 Pontiac Tempest owned by Schon Crouse.

And finally, John Pickens took home Best of Show honors with his stunning 1931 Ford Roadster.

With great weather and strong participation, the 12th Annual Hosanna Car Show was a memorable success.
Richwood Bank Coffee & Cars Cruise-In:
More than 25 vehicles turned out for Saturday morning’s Coffee and Cars Cruise-In at Richwood Bank in Delaware, Ohio.

Among the standouts were two vintage Volkswagen buses—one of which was a nostalgic nod to the 1960s—and a custom-built PT Cruiser pickup originally created for the 2005 SEMA Show.

Door prizes were raffled off at the end of the cruise-in, with the top prize featuring a bottle of Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon.

The next—and final—Richwood Bank Coffee and Cars of the season will be held on Saturday, September 6th.
Vettes, Rods, & Classics Charity Car Show:
The Capital City Corvette Club’s annual Vettes, Rods, & Classics Charity Car Show in the Creekside District of Gahanna, Ohio, has earned a reputation over the years for being either the hottest event of the summer—or the wettest, with thunderstorms sometimes crashing the party. But this year’s show was a welcome exception. Saturday delivered near-perfect conditions: sunny skies, temperatures in the 70s, and refreshingly low humidity.
More than once, I joked with club members that they really ought to figure out how to bottle this weather and save it for next year.
The ideal conditions brought out an impressive crowd and an equally impressive lineup of beautiful rides. Around 250 vehicles were officially registered, with several more in attendance that paid the entry fee but opted not to register. From classic muscle and sleek Corvettes to finely restored cruisers, the Creekside District was packed with automotive eye candy from end to end.

Proceeds from the show benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital, making it not just a fun event, but one that supports a very worthwhile cause.
For the fifth year in a row, the band Reelin’ In The Years took the stage—and once again delivered an outstanding performance. They’re easily one of the best cover bands around, and their energy brought an added layer of excitement to the show. Their music had folks tapping their feet, singing along, and even dancing in the streets.

Vettes, Rods, & Classics is a points-judged show, with a strong emphasis on presentation and cleanliness. One aspect I really appreciate is the judging structure: rods and classics are judged together as one group, while Corvettes are judged separately. This approach keeps the competition fair and balanced within categories. For the “Specialty” awards, however, all vehicles—regardless of class—are eligible.
Here are some of the "Specialty" award winning vehicles.
Not Pictured:
- Funtrails Award - 2017 F150 Tubo - Owner: Nik Lowe
- Best Veteran Car Award - 1970 Chevy Chevelle - Owner: Darrell Kincaid
- Best Mopar - 2023 300 C SRT Chrysler - Owner: Amy McCartney
- Best GM - 2019 Camaro Yenko Stage 2 - Owner: Mark Robinson
The Club Participation Award went to the Street Elite Corvette Club with 18 members in attendance.
Best of Show for the Rods & Classics category went to Shane Fairbanks and his stunning 2023 Chrysler 300C SRT.

In the Corvette category, Best of Show honors were awarded to Bill Lenhart’s beautifully preserved 1970 Corvette.

Here’s a sampling of some of the fantastic rides and scenic moments from the show:
With great weather, a strong turnout, and an impressive field of vehicles, this year’s Vettes, Rods & Classics Charity Car Show was a clear success. From the meticulously detailed Corvettes to the rare and head-turning classics, the Creekside District once again proved to be the perfect backdrop for a day filled with horsepower and camaraderie. Hats off to the Capital City Corvette Club for organizing another outstanding event—and for continuing to support such a meaningful cause in Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Clint Rice Memorial Classic Car Show:
Saturday marked the first-ever Clint Rice Memorial Classic Car Show, held at the Der Dutchman Restaurant in Plain City, Ohio.
Clint Rice, who grew up in the Plain City area, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in August 2021 while riding his Harley-Davidson. This show was organized to honor his memory and celebrate his life and love for community, cars, and camaraderie.
The inaugural event drew 42 cars. Enthusiasts came together to remember Clint and enjoy a summer morning and afternoon filled with classic rides, fellowship, and reflections.

This past weekend, downtown London, Ohio, came alive with the sights, sounds, and smells of the annual Rhythm & Rib Fest. As part of the festivities, a Saturday evening car cruise-in—hosted by the London Barber Exchange and sponsored by Westwood Collective—brought an impressive lineup of vehicles to the heart of the city.

The Hi-Way Starz were well represented and brought home several awards. Jeff Tolley, Dave O’Brien, and Keith Ruhl each earned a Top 40 Award, while Jeff Grindrod’s Thunderbird received a Sponsor’s Trophy from Integrity Auto.

Dave and Jackie Rolfe-Hiles and Gerarld Wicker of the Old Goats Car Club also took home Top 40 honors for their 1973 Plymouth Duster and 2005 Chevy Silverado, respectively.

Thanks to Robert “Bubba” Hettinger for sharing more great photos from the event.
