The Central Ohio weather on Saturday suddenly changed from early spring to mid-summer overnight. Afternoon temperatures in the mid-80s and lots of sunshine brought out the cars on Saturday. Just about every show in the area had better than expected turn out. Some even set registration records.

I managed to break away for a few hours Saturday evening to attend the Cruisin' with the King show in Marysville, Ohio. The Shankles were once again kind enough to send me lots of photos from the Empty Pocket Cruisers Armed Forces Day Car Show they attended earlier in the day.

I only attended one show this weekend. I had plans to participate in the Jim Hamilton show on Saturday but my father was rushed to the hospital with chest pains and shortness of breath early Saturday morning. I spent most of day at the hospital with him. Thanks to friends, I have a bunch of photos from the Hamilton show.

Creative Towing/Advanced Auto Parts

The Creative Towing/Advanced Auto Parts show Friday evening was my one and only show of the weekend.

This was the second show of the season for the monthly event that takes place at the Advance Auto Parts store in Marysville, Ohio. This month's show registered 21 vehicles.

Five members of the Rod Knockers Club of Marion, Ohio made the drive from Marion to attend the show.

Because of Easter, all the events this weekend were on Saturday. The Good news -- the day stayed relatively dry. Just some on again, off again sprinkles throughout the day. The bad news -- it felt more like late October or early November than it did April. In other words, it was cold, damp and dreary!

April Cruisin' with the King in 2019

The Mid Ohio Cruisers held their first monthly cruise-in of the year on Saturday evening at the Burger King in Marysville, Ohio. This marks the 35th year the club has been cruising at Burger King.

Fortunately there was no rain to speak of during the evening, however, temperatures hovered in the mid-40s with a brisk wind out of the northwest. I don't have any sales figures, but I'm guessing Burger King sold more coffee and hot chocolate than normal for a Saturday evening in April.

The show registered 24 vehicles, which isn't bad considering the weather conditions.

With Sunday being Easter, all the events I found for this weekend will be on Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is calling for a 60% chance of showers.

I've added a few more events this week to the Save the Date Part Two page. The page is a good source for all the upcoming events on tap for this season. It's worth checking out if you haven't already.

This weekend saw the first weather cancellation of the 2019 season. The C-Town Cruisers made the decision on Friday to call off their show at Buffalo Wings and Rings on East Broad Street scheduled for Sunday. This is a monthly show at the restaurant so hopefully, the May weather forecast will be a little more cooperative.

Creative Towing/Advanced Auto Parts Car Show

On Friday, Creative Towing and the Advanced Auto Parts store in Marysville, Ohio held their first show of the season.

For the second week in a row, showers in the morning gave way to partly cloudy but dry skies in the afternoon and evening.

This month's show registered 29 vehicles. Tickets sales from the door prize and 50/50 raffles raised $105 for the Marysville Food Pantry.

Rain, sleet, and snow greeted this year's Snowball Cruise at the Burger King in Marysville, Ohio.

Approximately 25-30 area car enthusiasts took over the Burger King for the 2 hour event on Saturday hosted by the Mid Ohio Cruisers.

Because of the "crummy" weather, the Snowball Cruise only registered three vehicles. And since the event only had three awards, there wasn't much debate as to who would get one of the three trophies.

The Snowball Cruise was a great way to kill a few hours on a dreary, cold Saturday afternoon in January. It was fun to talk to friends you hadn't seen since the last car show. Everyone seemed to have a good time.

The Mid Ohio Cruisers handed out their Cruisin' with King in 2019 schedule. We'll all have to wait until April 20 for their next show...

The Mid Ohio Cruisers will host the first car show of 2019 this Saturday, January 19.

Their annual Snowball Cruise will take place at the Burger King Restaurant located at 1044 Delaware Avenue (Rt 36), Marysville, Ohio from 2-4 PM.

If this year's event is anything like past years, there will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and awards for the "Favorite" three vehicles.

The weather forecast for Saturday doesn't look very promising right now, but we all know Ohio weather can change on a dime. If nothing else, come out and hangout with your friends for a couple hours. I plan to be there.

Another weekend of car shows was dampened by rain and the addition of cold temperatures.

Rain started falling around 6 PM Friday evening at the Creative Towing/Advanced Auto Parts show in Marysville, Ohio.  By 7 PM it was coming down hard enough to force an early finish to the show.

With the threat of rain in the forecast and temperatures barely in the 50s, the show only registered 22 cars. Several cars left early once the rain started to fall.

Here are this month's award winners:

Despite the bad weather, the show managed to raise $75 for the local food pantry.

There's one more Creative Towing/Advanced Auto Parts show on the schedule for November 9th, weather permitting.

Friday morning the index finger on my right hand encountered the supercharger belt on my Camaro. This gave me the opportunity to meet two very nice Columbus Police and Fire Department paramedics and spend eight hours in the OSU Medical Center Emergency Department. Let me just say the entire incident won't top my list of brilliant moves.

Since typing at the moment isn't very efficient, this week's report will be a little shorter than normal.

Der Dutchman

Starting with Der Dutchman, the cruise-in set a new attendance record this past Thursday.  The restaurant registered 147 vehicles braking the previous record by four cars.  More than 20 were first time participants.

The Thursday cruise-in has become so popular this season that the restaurant has added a second port-a-potty!

Boot's from Auto Smarts Radio stopped by again this week with his BADD '57 Chevy.  He invited Bill Fowler (see arrow) From Baer Brakes to come out.  Bill brought some Baer shirts with him that were raffled off at the end of the cruise-in.

The sweltering heat on Saturday didn't stop more than 300 cars from turning out for the Vettes, Rods, And Classics show at Creekside.

It was so warm that at least one participant had to be taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion.  I'm pretty sure I lost 10 pounds of water weight just cleaning up my car for the show.  Water and shade were definitely your best friends on Saturday.

This is the 4th year the Capital City Corvette Club has hosted the show at the Creekside business district in Gahanna, Ohio. The district is a great venue for a car show.  Along with plenty of restaurant and shopping choices,  the area also includes a beautiful plaza and adjacent park. In four short years, this show has become one of the premiere car events in Central Ohio.
