Here are the Central Ohio car events for the second weekend of August.

Events will likely be added or canceled as the week progresses, so check back often for updates.

News and Notes:

Between the virus and weather this past week, I don't have much to report. Two shows scheduled for this weekend, the Hosanna Lutheran Car Show in Pataskala on Friday evening and the Purple Door Car Show in Grove City on Saturday have both been canceled.

My primary computer took a big dump Saturday afternoon. Damn thing won't even power on. As has been my luck this year, both Apple stores in Columbus are closed because of the pandemic. Earliest I can get the computer into a repair center is Thursday as a walk-in. I mention all this as a warning that updates may not be as timely as usual this week.

The Save the Dates for 2020 page is still be updated regularly. Unfortunately, there were more cancellations last week then additions.

The Central Ohio weather on Saturday suddenly changed from early spring to mid-summer overnight. Afternoon temperatures in the mid-80s and lots of sunshine brought out the cars on Saturday. Just about every show in the area had better than expected turn out. Some even set registration records.

I managed to break away for a few hours Saturday evening to attend the Cruisin' with the King show in Marysville, Ohio. The Shankles were once again kind enough to send me lots of photos from the Empty Pocket Cruisers Armed Forces Day Car Show they attended earlier in the day.

Scattered showers played havoc with this week's car shows.  On Friday, the Auto Smarts Cruise and Ride at Tin Pan Alley in Hilliard, Ohio had only 17 cars register for the show.  Cruisin' with the King in Marysville, Ohio didn't do much better on Saturday evening with just 16 registered cars.

I had planned to do the Meet to Beat Leukemia car show at Columbus State on Saturday afternoon and Cruisin' with the King Saturday evening, but showers right as I was ready to leave for both shows killed those plans.

Luckily, the weather gave us a break from the showers on Sunday so the whole weekend wasn't a complete wash out (no pun intended).

The Empty Pockets Cruisers' made a wise decision on Friday to move their Armed Forces Day Car Show at the VFW Post 4931 in Hilliard, Ohio from Saturday to Sunday.  As it turned out, Sunday's weather was near perfect for a car show.
