Remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon Washes Out Entire Weekend

I can't remember the last time the weather washed out an entire weekend of car shows.

I received information that no less than six events were either rescheduled or cancelled altogether because of the heavy rains left over from tropical storm Gordon.

Even the organizers of the Ohio Corvette Alliance All Corvette Show finally succumbed to the weatherman and cancelled their show around 6AM on Sunday.

The only event I managed to attend over the weekend was the Der Dutchman Cruise-in on Thursday evening.  Only 30 cars braved the threat of rain and turned out this week.

One of those cars was this 2005 Ferrari Scaglietti belonging to Tim Smith.

The drawing for desserts and gift card was held about 45 minutes early so everyone could head home before the rains started falling again.

At the moment, the weather forecast looks dry for this coming week.  Hurricane Florence, however, is on a course to hit the east coast later in the week.  Let's hope it has little impact on Central Ohio's weather.  I don't know if I can take another "washed out" weekend.

The only show I found within my 75 mile area was Pioneer Days in Kalida... and that show normally has well over 200 cars but less than 60 showed up in the all day drizzle. They had awards left over as specific to categories in 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each. Many categories did not even have one car in them. Just my luck, my category had 8 cars and one other had 10 cars. Participant voting and many turned in their ballots before I got there (I was late arriving) but I did manage to place 3rd.

I admire your determination to find a car show that wasn't cancelled or postponed. That's dedication.

Having eight out of the 60 cars in your class would be some of my luck.
