NEWS AND NOTES:

Columbus Cars and Coffee @ The City:

As many of you may know, the weekly Saturday morning Columbus Cars and Coffee meets at Lennox Town Center were suspended back in April after some cars got a out-of-control leaving the meet. The group that organized the meets held a series of Saturday morning meet ups at various locations around Columbus during the summer. The group also started receiving support from Byers Auto and Lindsay Automotive.

Well, I'm here to report that the group has found a new "permanent" home for the Saturday morning meets at The City Apartments -- formerly the old University City shopping center at the corner of Ackerman Rd and Olentangy River Rd.

This past Saturday was the first official meet at the new location. There was a nice turn out of cars and people so the word is definitely out about the new location. A nice mix of classics, muscle and exotic cars showed up on Saturday. I got the opportunity to see a new Mustang GT 500 and a new two door Ford Bronco.

Parking may get a little tight on those Saturdays when 500 cars show up. The lower level of the apartment complex is set aside for retail space. This may also affect parking in the future. But this past Saturday parking was good. Just beware of the speed bumps next to the complex. They are killers.

I'm glad to see this Columbus Cars and Coffee group find a new home. It's great way to get a quick car fix on a Saturday morning and also see some cars that don't often participate in car shows or cruise-ins. Lets hope everyone behaves themselves so there isn't a repeat of what happened in April.

Miller's Swap Meet & Car Show:

A number of Central Ohio car show regulars made the trek down to Chillicothe, Ohio on Saturday for the 14th Annual Miller's Automotive Swap Meet and Car Show at the Ross County Fairgrounds.

The Miller Automotive Group hosts the swap meet and car show twice a year in March and November.

The sunny weather on Saturday brought out 145 vehicles for the car show. Jeff Tolley and Dale Pearce came home with Top 25 awards. Congratulations!

Sunday Afternoon Car Meet at the Point on Main:

With cloudless skies and above normal temperatures for November, the C-Town Cruisers hosted their last show of the year at The Point Restaurant on Main.

The show registered 77 cars, however, counting the ones that didn't register there were more than 100 cars.

Awards were presented to the top 31 cars. The special awards included Ladies Choice, Best Rat Rod/Most Potential, and Best of Show.

The 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air belonging to Steve Kidwell and Nancy received the Ladies Choice award. John White with a 1953 Chevy Suburban was awarded Best Rat Rod/Most Potential. Best of Show honors went to Rick and June Lawrence with a 1973 Chevy Chevelle SS.

Shaun announced that the C-Town Cruisers have been able to donate more than $6000 to charity this year thanks to everyone's participation in their events. The charities that receive the bulk of the donations are Friends of the Shelter, a dog rescue organization, Breast Cancer Awareness, and the Wounded Warrior Project. You may not always get a trophy but know your registration, door prize and raffle ticket money is going to support good causes.

Performance Charity Car Show:

The Performance Charity Car Show that took place on October 9th in downtown Delaware, Ohio has posted photos on their website of the 2021 award winners.

Not sure if I'll have a report next week. The long range forecast is calling for rain on Thursday and Friday and highs in the low 40s on Saturday - burrrr.... I'm going to try to hit three events this week but I'll have to wait to see what the weather does.

As I mentioned last week, I will be posting a season wrap up later in the month so stay tuned for that.
