UPDATE: I did get confirmation that the Knox Cars & Coffee Season Opener has been canceled. The Marysville Car Meet has been postponed until May 9th.
I promised to start the weekly Upcoming Events posts in April and I am a man of my word.
As you can see, a number of events scheduled for this weekend have been canceled or postponed as a result of the Coronavirus lockdown. I have reached out to the Knox Cars & Coffee and the Marysville Car Meet folks to confirm the status of their events. As of this writing, I have not heard back from either group. If you have any information about these meets, please post the info in the comments section.
If you do decide to venture out to either event (assuming they're still on), please use common sense and keep the recommended distance from other people.
Check out the Save the Dates for 2020 page for a list of future events that will hopefully take place once the spread of the virus slows and social distancing guidelines are relaxed.
If you've got a good case of cabin fever or are just itching for a car show, Creative Towing/Advanced Auto Parts will be holding their first show of the season this Friday (March 13, 2020).
The show will take place at the Advanced Auto Parts store at 1005 Delaware Avenue (Rt 36) in Marysville, Ohio. Registration is from 5:30 to 7:00 PM with awards presented between 7:30 and 8:00 PM. Registration is Free! All proceeds from door prize sales and 50/50 raffle go to support local charities.
The weather forecast calls for rain in the morning but it should be out of the area by the start of the show. Temperatures look to be considerably warmer than they were for the last Creative Towing/Advanced Auto Parts show last November. I'm told the wheelbarrow fire pit is still available if needed.
Any questions regarding the show, please contact Jeff Shankle (614-679-2287).
Many events are being canceled or postponed. I am doing my best to update this page with cancelations and postponements as soon as I find out about them. I would strongly recommend calling the listed contact number before heading out to an event.
I get requests all the time to post events outside the focus area of this website. Carshowtalk.com is and will always be about car-related events happening in and around Central Ohio. I've included a map at the end of this post showing the reporting boundaries for this site. For events outside the Central Ohio area, check out OhioCarShow.com, Ohio Car shows & Cruise-Ins (both are on Facebook), and Old Ride.
As I diligently work on the initial version of the "Save the Dates 2020" post, I want to take a few minutes to make a couple of quick announcements that I think will be of interest to everyone.
NASCAR driver and Naval Reserve Officer Lieutenant Commander Jesse Iwuji will speak at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, from 6-8:00 pm. Iwuji will share the lessons he has learned through his service in the U.S. Navy and how they have influenced his NASCAR career. For more information about the event, Click here.
Not long after this website went online, a Classified Ad section for buying and selling autos, auto parts, and services was added. I have to admit, I've been a little surprised at the lack of activity in this section. I don't know if people are unaware of the service or they're just not interested. But before I take it down, I thought I give it one more pitch. You can find the link to the Classified Ads on the navigation banner on every page of this site.Any ad you place will be active for 90 days. At the end of the 90 days, you have the option to renew the ad for another 90 days. Photos can be uploaded if desired. The only restrictions are that ads must be approved by me before becoming active and must be for automobile-related items or services. Please, no furniture, appliances or things having nothing to do with automobiles. Best of all the Classified Ad service is absolutely "FREE" for everyone! During the car show season, this website will get between 2000-2500 unique visits per week so you have a pretty good audience. If you have something auto-related you want to buy or sell, take advantage of the Classified Ad section. What have you got to lose, it's FREE?
The Mid Ohio Cruisers will kick off the 2020 Central Ohio car show season this coming Saturday, January 18, 2020, with their annual Snowball Cruise.
The Cruise hours will be from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Burger King restaurant located at 1044 Delaware Avenue in Marysville, Ohio.
As in past years, the club will present three Snowball awards to their favorite vehicles that risk the bad weather and salty roads to attend the show. There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
Come join the fun this Saturday and hang out with friends you haven't seen since the last car show season.
Are you in need of parts to get that classic car or motorcycle of yours back on the road and show ready? Or are you just looking for something to do until spring arrives? In either case here's the Central Ohio swap meet schedule for 2020.
Unless you've been living under a rock the past year, you're probably aware by now that Chevrolet has introduced the all-new mid-engine Corvette for 2020.
Completely redesigned from the ground up, the new mid-engine C8 Corvette Stingray will be powered by Chevy's all-new small-block LT2 V8 engine mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission (no manual option is available).
Rated at 495 HP and 470 lb-ft torque, the new Corvette with the Z51 option will do 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds.
The best news is that all this performance and styling can be had at a base price of $59,995. Take that you high-priced European exotics!
If you're having some car show withdrawal or need a little break from Christmas shopping, you can see and touch the all-new Corvette at Chesrown Chevrolet-GMC-Buick in Delaware, Ohio on Friday, December 20, 2019, from 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM.
Oh, and by the way. It's also available in a hardtop convertible.
Well, everyone, the time has finally come. This will be the last Upcoming Events post for 2019. These are the last outdoor events in Central Ohio for this season.
I plan to post a new "Save the Dates" page for 2020 sometime in January or February once more shows pop up on the schedule. The weekly upcoming events will return next April.
Please stay tuned for my annual The Good, The Bad and The Ugly post which will recap the 2019 season. I'll rank the best shows, best cars, best food and some of the uglier things that happened from the shows and cruise-ins I attended this year. I hope to have it up on the site the week of November 18 - 22.
One last thing to note is the November Springfield Swap Meet & Car Show only holds the car show event on Saturday. Don't go over Friday looking to show your vehicle. It's a swap meet only that day.
